Can't say that I care enough about Trump to have followed even a minute of this trial, but a bunch of the propaganda accounts have been calling it a shitshow this week. They seemed rather pissed that he doubled back and decided not to testify as well. I can only assume their displeasure indicates their hearts will end up broken again. Is that the generally feeling here, or is he getting the hammer?

I think a normal dude would be convicted but I'd be surprised if they get Trump. Main reason being that what they're actually trying him on -- and look, he almost certainly did it -- just seems like small potatoes relative to some of the other stuff he is accused of / charged with.

I haven't been reading up on it every day. An article on CNN says they think the prosecution missed several opportunities to solidify their case and have left the door open.

I think a normal dude would be convicted but I'd be surprised if they get Trump. Main reason being that what they're actually trying him on -- and look, he almost certainly did it -- just seems like small potatoes relative to some of the other stuff he is accused of / charged with.

Wouldn't be surprised if his lawyers told him right from the start that they're not putting him on the stand. It would have been entertaining to say the least.

No cameras = no Trump testimony. The weirdest thing to me is zero in-court footage. If they really wanted Trump to testify all they needed to do was allow cameras.

I know im biased but finding someone guilty on a liars testimony wouldn’t really cut it for me. I have not kept up with the hearings at all but was watching TV while sitting in a lobby and the news lady called the lawyer a selective liar and excusing him stealing money. I think she was legit making it sound like he is smart and meticulous with his lying and him stealing money was justified because of some bonus situation he either didn’t get or didn’t get enough of.

He lied for Trump. That was part of his job description. And the case does not hinge on Cohen’s testimony. He is corroborating documentary evidence and testimony already introduced. That said, Cohen is a piece of sh*t just like his old boss.

Seems a little sketchy, coming out 20 years later before an election, and given the rise of AI. There was a video circulating recently where Biden was speaking to a little girl visiting the White House. In the video he calls her sexy and tells her not to tell mom. The voice is his, but it's AI generated and so it's fake. Given the sources I would guess we'd need to near the actual audio first and get some confirmation from the parties involved, maybe computer analysis.

Biden has been the most racist person in DC since David Duke died - due to equivalency this is a non-starter IMO. Amazing this comes out just as Trump makes some headway in that segment of the polls. LOL - fake moral outrage as if anyone in DC has any morals. We have a binary choice and the policies of Trump outweigh the policies of Biden and his ilk by a factor of infinity. I am curious your top five reasons to vote FOR your candidate. There are always plenty of reasons not to vote for someone but the "not Trump" argument is losing steam as we have seen the last four years increase tolerance for Trump's obnoxiousness. I have plenty of reasons to vote FOR Trump, his personality and linguistics aren't on the list. Neither is his spending.

For some it seems a guilty or non-guilty verdict will do little to change votes one way or the other. Apparently NPR did a poll:

Two-thirds of registered voters nationwide questioned said a guilty verdict in the trial would make no difference to their vote in the presidential election. Seventeen percent said a conviction of Trump would make them less likely to vote for him and fifteen percent said a conviction would make them inclined to support the former president at the ballot box.

If Trump is acquitted, three-quarters of those surveyed said it wouldn't impact their vote. Fourteen percent said a not guilty verdict would make them more likely to back Trump, and nine percent said they'd be less likely to vote for the former president.

It's interesting that the reverse is also true: a conviction would make some voters more inclined to vote for him, and an acquittal would make some voters less likely to vote in favor of Trump.
