Burgess-Becker transferring

Alabama safety Shawn Burgess-Becker (Pompano Beach, Fla./Monarch) is transferring out of Alabama, as first-reported by 247Sports.com.

Burgess-Becker played as a true freshman last fall recording three tackles on special teams.

He would have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Burgess-Becker (6-1, 205) would then have three years of eligibility at his next program.

Burgess-Becker has received his full release.

The four-star recruit was ranked as the nation's No. 10 athlete and the N0. 24 prospect in Florida in the 2015 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

EKU assembling quite the high-profile cast of DI transfers lately. They always get kids from UK, UofL, WKU and even UC, but this is a different level.

These high-profile guys must like the middle-of-nowhere feel that Richmond has, but also the very close proximity to college-city life in Lexington.

Sources: Alabama being uncooperative with Maurice Smith's transfer attempt

There's a complicated situation playing out behind the scenes at Alabama involving a player who is trying to get his release and move on to another school as a graduate transfer.

Senior defensive back Maurice Smith wants to transfer, but has been unsuccessful getting a release despite several attempts during the last month, sources told AL.com.

Smith, who was the Tide's first-team nickel back during the spring, is now going through an appeal process, according to sources.
