Texas transfer talking to SEC, Big Ten, Pac-12 schools

On Monday, former four-star recruit Ryan Newsome announced on his Twitter account that he would be leaving Texas and looking to continue his career elsewhere. Newsome, who saw playing time as a true freshman for head coach Charlie Strong, will have four years to play three wherever he ultimately finishes his career.

Texas granted Newsome his release on Tuesday — he says he can't go to Notre Dame or Cal (who Texas plays this year) or any Big 12 school — and since then, the messages have streamed in non-stop. Already Newsome has developed a list of six schools where there's mutual interest: Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Arizona State and USC.

"I know more schools will come after me but more than likely that list won’t change," Newsome said in an exclusive interview Wednesday night. "I’m really excited for those schools and I know for a fact those schools are interested in me. I’m visiting Arizona State and Michigan State next week.”

He should transfer to Cincinnati.

It's the new hotness for former blue-chip WR's. AND he could still play Big XII football in '17 or '18.

What's crazy is the team won't miss a beat and no one will even notice those players aren't there.

Punter Tommy Townsend transfers from Tennessee to Florida

Florida coach Jim McElwain confirmed Thursday that Townsend was coming to Florida. Townsend will sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Townsend redshirted at Tennessee last season. His brother, Johnny Townsend, is Florida's main punter.

Tennessee coach Butch Jones confirmed Thursday that reserve offensive tackle Dontavius Blair, wide receiver Cody Blanc and tight end Joe Stocstill also left the team.

LSU's transfers: Where they are now

(George) Brown is the latest name to join the offseason transfer list in Baton Rouge, a number that has now risen to eight departures since the team’s bowl game. The most notable is arguably Tyron Johnson, a former five-star prospect out of New Orleans whose future seemed to hold some promise. No matter, Johnson became the third 2015 signee to leave the program, and he cited playing in a more “wide open” offense as a key reason for his move.

Translation: more playing time.

Since 2012, 23 of LSU’s signees have decided to transfer out of the program. Two more players - Jeryl Brazil and Trey Lealaimatafao - were dismissed from the team. The rest of the faces gone from the roster either left for the NFL Draft or graduated.

Alabama backup QB plans to transfer; unclear if he'll be with team for Playoff (Cooper Bateman transfer, Dec 4th)

From RollBamaRoll:
Complicating matters is Alabama’s inevitable bid to the College Football Playoff. If Bateman’s new chosen team wants him to participate in their bowl practice to better prepare for next season, he may leave immediately. Another issue could be the academic calendar, as some schools start classes on January 9, the date of the College Football Playoff final. At that point David Cornwell would be the only scholarship QB on the roster other than starter Jalen Hurts.

Alabama backup QB David Cornwell announces he's transferring (David Cornwell transfer, Dec 7th)

It's uncertain whether Cornwell or Bateman will remain with the top-ranked Crimson Tide through the College Football Playoff. But if they leave before then, Hurts will be the only quarterback left on the roster who has taken a snap for Alabama.

And then there was one.

Alabama's inevitable QB exodus hits at the worst possible time

Blake Barnett is gone, searching for greener pastures in the desert at Arizona State. Now it appears Cooper Bateman and David Cornwell are going, too, transferring to other schools themselves, their exact destinations and departure times still unknown.

That brings the number of Alabama scholarship quarterbacks who've had their fill of caddying for Jalen Hurts to three.

After Hurts, at the moment, that's all there are.

Malik Zaire walks on for the Playoffs?
