While that Rees quote has a lot of truth in it, it's a lot harder to create that space if the safeties don't need to be worried about keeping your wideouts in front of them.

Interesting just offensive concepts article.
If the Keys hype can be somewhat real. A slot combo of Davis/Keys/Kyren/Tyree/Mayer can be a nightmare

that’s what you call a happy coincidence
Agreed, most horizontal concepts work because the outside receivers at least one is running an alarm route vertical, if the D doesn’t have to devote a Safety to that they can just crowd the middle

Oh, sorry, slots! I read that as the Slutification of CFB.
TBF, I have yet to meet a slut that doesn't love strong slot play.
Ballsy yet smart call and I'm here for it.The Austin TD, a play calling breakdown:
- It is 3rd and 1 outside field goal range, clear 4 down territory.
- ND is to the left hash and Austin alone on the far side.
- 1 S is up, leaving a FS in the middle of the field.
- Mayer motions out to the short side which inevitably draws the attention of the FS. Coan now knows he has 1-1 coverage with Kevin Austin unless the S can make a insane recovery, Kyle Hamilton confirmed not on FSU.
Pretty A+ call and execution
Fuck the haters.
Call me crazy, but what do you guys think about Tommy going West Coast offense this year? Clearly the passing game is > running game because of the OLine, but the crux of that is pass pro is pretty bad too. So why not use short, horizontal passes to setup the running game and vertical passing game? Unlike with Book, Coan has already proven the ability (and almost as important - willingness) to go over the top. Should keep defenses honest.

I think they will have to work on plays getting the ball out of his hands quickly if the OL doesn’t show progress in short order.
Can we please run an occasional wildcat? WHo would be the right guy to do it? Especially when we are struggling in the run game. Read option won’t be happening with Coan. QB draw maybe.

We're still waiting for Avery Davis to throw the ball.
Really, it's probably best to put Buchner in for some run-first packages if you want to go that route.
Does wildcat make the run game better?
No. It worked in like 2002 for the Miami Dolphins for maybe 3 plays before the defense figured it out. Since then the wildcat has gained a cumulative total of 13 yards across all levels of football. (citation needed).
FSU scored a touchdown on us using wildcat
I have a hunch it would have worked without wildcat
