Awesome! If i could rep you, i would (I know about unlimited reps, havent bought them).

Unlimited reps make the rep only worth a point, versus rep power being high if not unlimited based on weight of reputation.

Hammond was horrible. Called VG Shoop, screwed up numerous times and when Purdue sped up at the end, he sounded like he needed an energy drink.

Brindza punts it from deep in the endzone past the 50, and Hammonds calls it a short kick.

He also called a Brindza fg good BEFORE it hit the upright. It ended up going thru off the ricochet, but he just nonchalantly said it was good then it hit the upright. Dumbass.

What did you guys think about the interception by David Butler?

He's good.

Is it OK for every semi smart kid whom is attending our university to post semi ok posts on here without any recourse of actual human empathy?

I didn't see any posts semi ok or otherwise from semi smart kid whom is attending our university.

Are you drinking or did your girl friend forget to proof edit your post?

He really looked like hell. And, along with earlier-mentioned miscues (Golston. David Butler. Confusing Van Gorder with Purdue's OC) he called it "Fenway Field." Maybe just hang it up, Tom?

I swear he was the reason the game was close for a while. Just because his drunken dumbass was calling the game.

Same, my tweet was, 'Why Tom Hammond?! We've been doing just fine without him...'

i thought I was having a relapse when I saw he was announcing the game. Is that the best NBC can do? Mayock has issues, too.

Cant find it in my soul to get on Tom anymore but I did notice how the other guy had his pom poms out for Purdue. I guess its just the natural progression of things when you are made to cover one team that you really don't like much every week. I wonder if they would mix it up with rotating people to keep it fresh/even.

Mike Mayock is just fine, thank God we have him. He's one of the most knowledgeable commentators [why they have him featured on NFL draft nights] and his attempts to give the opponent some credit is honest and appropriate. Plus, I like his rapport with Flutie.

As to Hammond: please no one object to Dan Hicks because you don't think he's crazy loud enough --- he does his job as a solid play-by-play announcer setting up Mayock's color commentary.

My guess is that any of our never-see-anything-I-like IErs could enjoy the game by turning off the game and screaming for 3 hours to the delight of all others present.

Mayock was despicable last night in his critique of Redfield's helmet to helmet hit, yet didn't backtrack his "that's football there" comment on Trumbetti receiving the same type hit last week!!!

No question about Mayock's ability, But for me I don't need someone pointing out every mistake in a teaching way while I'm in the flow of watching the game. I do stick by my earlier comments on if you aren't really a pro Notre Dame guy the presentation wears thin on your comments. It hampers you ability to stay even in the presentation. This guy is good no question about it-but I do notice when things go south for the Irish that he likes the action. No problem he's a BC guy, just understand this is the only broadcast Notre Dame people can watch Notre Dame.

I understand NBC's intention to not have and "ND guy" in the booth and to offer opposing viewpoints. However, I wish they could at least have someone with some obviously pro ND leanings. We get to hear the resumes of the entire opposing team, but we don't get much about the Irish.

I saw Darius Walker doing some sideline commentary for a game on some other network and I thought he was incredible. I would love to have him on the sidelines. I can't stand Doug Flutie.

Pretty sad when I long for the days when OJ Simpson was the sideline guy for Notre Dame games.

Tom Hammond Needs to Leave

I'm a Mayock fan. I like most of his analyzing and generally calls it straight. He studies the NFL and I believe it helps. He's not perfect but he's one of the best in my book.

Mayock, Charles Davis, and Todd Blackledge are my preferred analysts.

I also think Chris Spielman is decent and I think Herbie has come a long way to become a reputable analyst.

I can't stand Hammond. How hard is it to get a name right? He doesn't even try to correct himself. I like Hicks.

Gus is my favorite though.

No homers please. I prefer guys to shoot it straight.

When looking at it with outside eyes, it's a bit of a dull game.

I enjoy watching all these games, but it felt flat from the outset.

If I wasn't a fan of ND, I likely wouldn't watch this matchup.

The announcers are definitely coached up to sensationalize any angle,
and when it's Purdue v. ND, the expectation is (and should always be) a ND blowout.

Mayock is fine. His catch phrases are terrible, and he talks too much (often stating the obvious), but he has a few good insights here and there. Seemingly, the other commentators are there for Mayock, though Hammond is so disconnected at times, it's difficult to respect him professionally.

They need to infuse the commentary with some knowledgeable youth.

Darius Walker is an EXCELLENT example.
