This is truly random but does anyone know what happened to bogtrotter07?

Bogs decided that keeping his blood pressure under control was more important than consorting within the Kingdom of Knuckleheads that is IE.

Truly a random post, but deserving of a mention.

I'm watching this match between the ladies of USC and Stanford on The Golf Channel. USC has a golfer named Muni He. Good lord.

Can the mods work out a ban/self-ban just from the political threads now that they are in their own gulag sub-thread? I had done pretty well at avoiding it for a while before the shift and since, the only thing I have posted there is a set of Bloom County cartoons where they reference DJT's brain being implanted in bill the cat...'cuz I thought it was funny

That is a perfect description. Second only to "Pit of Misery."

Not 100% but pretty sure gulag means pit of misery in Russian (if not something worse...at least connotatively)

My grandpa passed away this afternoon after his long battle with one of the variations of dementia.

He stopped taking water on Sunday. Gave family a chance to make it back to spend time with him including each of his nine children, and probably ~25 of his 30+ grandchildren. He died about ten minutes after his last child was finally able to come from Rhode Island while they sang Amazing Grace for him.

I was fortunate enough to see him the day I moved. Glad I made time to go do that. Its also been a really great time, grandma dug out photo albums and my cousins have been sending me pictures of him from all ages. I look forward to celebrating his life at home next week.

Pour one out for the OG NorthDakota(I'm named after him).

All the joking and bullshit-politics aside, I am sorry for your loss. It was good that you were able to see him before you moved. One of the reasons I moved back home was to see my grandmother before she passed away; she was in a similar situation to your grandfather. I have never regretted that choice.

I was going to post this, yesterday, but I got busy with some real-world tasks.

Billy "Stix" Nicks passed away on the 15th. I had the pleasure of meeting him during my time at ND, because we have a common friend. Bill was a phenomenal drummer, and even more phenomenal person. He always had a smile and an infectious laugh.

Even though he was in his seventies when I watched his performances, his drumming was amazing. I used to do sound for live concerts, so I've seen a lot of bands. Bill was the best drummer I've ever seen, live.

Wtf is with this Keaton story? Apparently his mom is a racist now?

Long story short is he is a kid who was bullied and a video of him telling his parents about the acts got onto twitter. All kinds of celebrities were offering to meet him, take to premiers, etc and some random person started a GoFundMe that raised $55k in a few days.

Later pictures of the family posing by Confederate Flags was release and now the same people ( not celebrities) who were all for the kid are crushing his mom for being racist.

From deadline.com

But the attention also drew public curiosity and the surfacing of the prior social media posts from Kimberly Jones, Keaton’s mother. In addition to pictures of confederate flags, the old posts crudely criticize Colin Kaepernick and others protesting police brutality against black Americans. Some accounts include allegations of racism against the 11-year-old boy, saying he was bullied because he used racial epithets.

And earlier today, Gregory Clay, the principal of Keaton’s middle school, told local press that bullying isn’t “as rampant as the video would have you believe.” He also said the incident had happened prior to Friday, and the students involved dealt with. He didn’t contradict the incident itself, though: “Everybody saw the video and it was horrible. We don’t want anyone to feel like that. Keaton’s a good kid. We’ll take care of him.”

Kimberly Jones’ Facebook page, which had posted the bullying video, has been either taken down or closed to views.

Yesterday I get a text from my wife. She sends me a pic of two guys in handcuffs in the neighbor's driveway across the street. We live in a nice area (no subdivision) so this is surprising. My wife had seen their truck go up and down the street several times. Evidently these guys were going up and down the street a couple of times looking for a house to hit.

Well the house they decided to try and rob is the home of a policeman who also happened to be home at the time. Not knowing he was home, I sent him a text letting him know what was happening. He replied and said when he heard them at the backdoor, he took his gun and went out the front door to catch them off-guard. He informs me that they had to let them go, because they never came into the house. Lucky bastards.

Is anyone else strangely into the girl from the animoji commercial? She's not classically hot per se, but she has a certain Nancy Wheeler quality about her.

I think she looks like one of the Hanson brothers. I'll send prayers your way through this tough transition.

Just roast me and then toast me with the libation of your choice.
Laugh, cry, reminisce.

No gyrations necessary.

A little cranked up Grateful Dead at the service is a given.

Whirling optional.
