This is a main reason I don't frequent IE as much as I used to-- somebody bitching about a post being off-topic...in a thread of the random...then having to endure a discussion/defense of said bitching.

I don't know much, but I do know if one feels compelled to do that, then it is time to get a life.

This belongs in the "what really grinds your gears" thread, could've counter posted but again, wrong thread.

We have any teachers around here, or anyone with Praxis experience?

I have a question about potential certification for a teaching job that I *may* be interested in.

Never took the Praxis (Cali doesn't use it and Texas had something else at the time) but it's my understanding they are comparable to the CBEST and CSET... if you're just taking Praxis I it should be laughably easy... Praxis II may be a different story.

Praxis II examples I found for the English test seem to be pretty standard stuff. Seems like I can use basic context clues and recall of college education in basic English courses to get through it.

It's the "Principles of Learning and Teaching" test that I have zero prep for haha.

I had to take the Praxis about a decade ago. Was the El Ed one and Reading one though, not a secondary test. Did no prep work and passed rather easily.

I have to test here soon and then try and get into the T2T program. School I have coached at for 7 years now is trying to get me a job.

I wish my state offered that. They are dicks about certification.

I'd like to teach/coach, and this opportunity is just about perfect for that, but I also have a good job currently, so I'm trying to figure out what kind of hoops I'll be jumping through if I commit to paying for/taking the Praxis tests that I need.

Getting certs is difficult now. They made it that way about 6-7 years ago. I have to pass the tests and then still hope that I can find a program that would work for me. Meeting with school admins tomorrow.

So a friend I used to work with at the children's hospital just sent me a link to a post on backpage where one of the nurses I worked with has a page offering adult services. One of our cutest nurses is a prostitute.

We probably can't ask links or it didn't happen for this one, eh mods?

To bad you don't work with her anymore. You could make a brief reference while passing her in the hallway, then wait to see her reaction.

She was using the name Kendall in her ad. Would've been funny to casually call her by that name to see what she did.

Certified Social Studies teacher in PA. Took the Praxis II my senior year (2011). Didn't study at all, thought it was easy. I know some states have changed requirements, and I heard from others that you can no longer take the Praxis II for another subject in PA (As long as I had my Secondary Ed degree, I was able to take the Praxis II in any subject and be certified in said subject).

The tests are generally not too hard if you have a good knowledge about the subject, though it's encouraged to study obviously.
