Do we think a guy on USC has the grades to get in? Gotta love the nickname.

I'm not going to predict the two deep right now with the portal, but ND in 2025 the more I think about it should be really good, of course pending the QB situation.

2025 OL > 2024 OL
2025 TE = 2024 TE. I wouldn’t normally say that but Evans is clearly recovering still.
2025 RB > 2024 RB
2025 WR > 2024 WR need a top portal guy though to supplement the rest.
2025 QB ><= 2024 QB. Tough to compare because they’re essentially going to be playing different positions if it’s Carr.
2025 IDL< 2024 IDL. Rather than QB, bags need to be dropped here.
2025 Edges> 2024 Edges
2025 LBs > 2024 LBs
2025 S = 2024 S. Maybe this is a bit optimistic on my end, but I’m excited to see Shuler. The production in Watts spot will no doubt decrease, but the improvement from Shuler I believe offsets that. Also need to portal here at least for depth.
2025 CB < 2024 CB. I was tempted to put = here because I genuinely don’t think we’ll see a huge drop off, but they'll still be replacing a first round pick.

ND Philly called it out in the postgame thread, but ND still being successful despite all these injuries is a testament to the depth that Freeman has built. It’s only going to continue to build and showcase itself next year.

It's too bad Evans doesn't have another year of eligibility. Feels like he's barely been a factor so far this year.

But yeah I generally agree with all this. If the guys who should come back do indeed come back, we're likely same or better at every position except interior DL and the defensive backfield, and the DBs won't drop off much. It would be nice if Rubio can come back and play some this year and establish himself as a presence in the middle.

Evans doesn’t have another year? I feel like he didn’t play as a freshman. Is there a COVID year?

He was a freshman in '21, and appeared in all 13 games (probably mostly on special teams?)

I forgot he also missed half of his sophomore year with an injury too. I hope he can turn it on the rest of this year and show what he's capable of. Hopefully the bye week helps him get back up to speed.

Couldn't find a better thread...

Everywhere I look, the BC game for next year doesn't have a date. Anyone got details?

None of the ACC games have dates yet. ACC hasn’t figured that part out yet.

Are we expecting to be good (i.e., title-competitive good) for the next couple years? Yes, right? I don't follow recruiting as closely as other people. But I feel like the preseason goal for this team was to make the playoff and maybe win a game, and that was about it. And we were thinking 2025/26 would be the title run years.

God you are way off. Fields will start at Wr, I don’t believe Coogan and Spindler both come back Wagner will start at RT, Will black might eventually end up starting at LT he’s a bonafide stud, DL Dawson, Rubio, Boubacar, Young, Munich isn’t gonna start at safety

We should be a top 5 team next year I think we should be even better in 2026 the following year

If Carr is as advertised, then the offense will be better next year. The defense loses Cross, Mills, and Watts but due to the return of the walking wounded, and the young dudes progressing, it could also be better.

I suspect the OP wasn't accounting for inbound transfers? (to be fair it's hard to keep track!)

But if he's healthy it's gonna be hard to keep Strohman off the field at safety. Fields at WR. Dawson at DT. And Smith's not coming from Bama to sit, he's our nickel.
For returning guys, hopefully Traore (or Botelho) is recovered enough to overtake Jr. at vyper, though maybe they platoon depending on the situation. OL's hard to predict but Wagner definitely starts and hopefully Lambert wins the LT spot (so Jagusah can maul dudes at guard).

Right now, transfers OUT is the big question. There are a lot of guys that will be offered money to leave vs stay and compete for a job. Especially at DE, LB, and OL. So some rotational guys or guys on the cusp might leave.

On paper, the offense should be considerably more talented next year assuming everyone returns + you adequately replace Leonard. Your WR situation gets better because you add Fields to Greathouse/Faison and have an extra year of development for the freshmen. Most importantly, the offensive line will be more veteran and more talented, and your RBs continue to be ELITE.

The defense loses some ballers (especially Watts) but has an elite LB group, elite corners, and probably better DEs when you consider Year 2 Bryce Young and guys coming back from injury. DT is where you really need to get player development, stay healthy, and have the transfers be "hits."

I don't know anything about Fields so I just put him in the same box as the other Virginia WR that ended up never playing. If he's the real deal then replace Thomas

The OL is puzzle what's the word on Craig? Could he be 100% for Fall Camp? Black is superstar talent so is Lambert but there's only 2 tackle spots

Why count out Minich so easy? He was the 2nd safety(after Heard) off the bench in a few games this year

I stand firm on Tui he's starting next year

This is going to be completely off but it's fun to take a stab at this. There are very few positions where you play "starters" and more rotations with this staff so where close, I just listed the committee in the order

QB: Carr
RB1: Love
RBs2-4: A. Williams, Young, Payne. (I have a bad feeling that Price is going to transfer, no inside info). What can Nolan James do?
WR: Fields, Burress
WR: Faison, Greathouse
WR: Gilbert, C. Williams
TE: Raridon, Washington, J. Flanigan. (Coop will be recovering and may take the RS for 2025)
LT/RT: Lambert, Wagner
LG/RG: Schrauth, Jagusah
C: Knapp

DE: Boubacar, Young (Botelho still recovering?), Burnham, Thomas, Burgess
DL: Rubio, Dawson, Hinish, Sevillano Jr., Mullins (purely guessing but I loved him coming out of high school)
LBs: Sneed, KVA, Bowen, Ausberry, (can Faraimo push for snaps?). --------I don't know what to think of Zinter and Kahanu Kia
CB: Gray, Leonard
NB/S: D. Smith
S: Shuler, Stroman, Urlacher (he might be the oversized S/LB hybrid for dime), Tae Johnson

Couple thoughts:
- Could Saldate or Smith make a move? Denbrock has spoken highly of both
- When is Craig healthy?
- Could Jagusah stay at tackle, Knapp bump in to guard, and Lambert waits another year?
- Think Junior leaves or just falls down depth chart? Having a hell of a run as of late

I'm actually a huge fan of Saldate, was when he signed and I'll stay high on him but I don't know where he takes snaps. They liked Gilbert alot until he hit the freshman wall. Maybe he and Gilbert take snaps together and Cam takes a bit more time to develop. It's certainly a good problem to have. I also think KK could make noise, as the staff liked him and talked him up at various points.

I'm worried that even if Craig is healthy, he could cede the job to Knapp. I think Knapp now has more experience/snaps and he moves really well. If he can add a 'coat of armor' to withstand the push inside, he could be an excellent inside player.

Jags could 100% stay at tackle but he was so excellent at guard, I want two monsters beside the center and Schrauth and Jag fit that bill perfectly. Maybe Pendleton or someone else forces their way in and he has to kick out because no one is ready to seize the tackle job.

I love Junior and I appreciate his dedication but he was 3rd on the depth chart prior to injuries. Add in more development/recovery/freshman and I don't know if he'll be able to breakthrough. I cheer for every one of our players so this isn't my "rooting interest" just gut feeling as a completely detached, no-sources fan.

These are wonderful problems to have.

ND is 12/1 to win the Natty (believe opened 25/1 last year)

Steve Angeli is 45/1 to win the Heisman

Disagree, I think Angeli could very well be another Jack Coan. Clearly your take already shows how underappreciated he is, step 1 in becoming the next Jack.
If we're aiming for the next Jack Coan then we're already settling.
Dude above is looking for the next QB who is BETTER than the Jack Coans of the world
