In reply to earlier comments about FSU covering their behinds due to an upcoming news article; never mind the post. NY Times just put out an expose on Tallahassee justice:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/12/u....html?emc=edit_na_20141010&nlid=54549672&_r=0

Really hard to read all that. Absolutely Insane. These people should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, the system in Tallahassee is broken and a lot of people should be in jail along with Winston and some of these other criminals. I applaud the national media for picking up the story that those inside the bubble are unwilling to face.

WOW!

... Seminole Boosters, a tax-exempt organization that collects millions from donors in the community, along with game concessions, sky-box rentals and merchandising. Money from the Boosters has helped pay the salaries of high-ranking athletic officials and the university president, whose performance goals included enhancing “the partnership” between the Boosters and the athletic department.

A successful football program is also good for Tallahassee police officers. They earn an extra $40 to $45 an hour, at university expense, providing traffic control on game days, according to the department. Last season, officers were paid a total of $112,000, according to the university.

Some officers working game-day shifts are paid directly by Seminole Boosters. Three officers who played important roles in the Winston investigation were among those seeking private work with the group, records show, and the department’s top officials at the time — Chief Dennis Jones and his deputy, Cheryl Stewart — attended a 2012 fund-raiser benefiting the Boosters and Coach Fisher’s family charity. The close connection between the police and the Boosters is hardly hidden: The fund-raiser’s sponsor, a booster club called Old School, posted photos on its website showing Chief Jones kicking off the event by firing a shotgun.

Players and the Police
The Times examined nine cases involving F.S.U. football players over a one-and-half-year period.

...

COACH
$1.45 million
Jimbo Fisher’s contract lays out up to $1.45 million in bonuses based on wins, championships, awards and graduation rates.

The Playoff System is worth about half a million to Fisher for success.

BOOSTERS
$264 million
Seminole Boosters, a nonprofit group and the main fund-raising arm of F.S.U.’s athletic department, has $264 million in assets.

$264 million! ND lost 2 scholarships in Dunbar because she paid $25 to defray the defunct Quarterback Club mailing expenses.

$264 million. Nay, that's not a slush fund.

Everybody knows it's too warm in Tallahassee for slush.

WOW!

Yikes... Now that is lack of institutional control.

No. It's actually the opposite. A frightening degree of control by the institution. The institution of Florida State's football program would appear to more or less tell the Police Department of a good-sized city what's what. Without even having to tell them, b/c they already know (scariest part of that story was the ties between the PD brass and the boosters club).

Like Veritate said, will be interesting to see how this plays out. But you almost need somebody outside of FSU/Tallahassee to step in here and investigate. No idea who that might be. (The State Police? The governor?)

Nothing this guy has done is much of a big deal to most of them unless he does it on the football field.

Well, they've been hearing about the sex-assault charges against Winston for a year and nothing has come of it. What's going to change just because it's in the New York Times? There's also a persecution thing that goes on after awhile. Did you see the way FSU people went after reporters who asked about the "Fuck her in the pu**y episode?) It feels very us vs. them down there.

That said, FSU may be the most culturally corrupt program in college football right now. (as in, the culture of the program permits all so much bad stuff to go unchecked, even if much of the stuff itself isn't so so bad). It appears the entire city enables it. That's got to blow up eventually.

Where there is money, there is corruption. Always has been and always will be. The extent of the corruption is the only difference.

To me what's even more intriguing here is the fact that several schools do not have a great relationship with their local law enforcement agencies. For FSU to have what appears to be a fairly significant influence is pretty shocking. And hopefully the stories coming out will result in some tangible changes in how "business is done" down in Tallahassee. Guess we will wait and see.

The Office of Student Affairs has suspended him for a PORTION of the Syracuse game.

He will not be allowed to participate in half time locker room activities with the team.

Mea culpa, it was a joke.

I was too facetious at 4 AM. I purposely put a double space between the two lines to set up the punchline. When it goes over Bogs head ... Actually, a half time locker room banishment would a huge jump in level of punishment from his last experience.

Winston May be in Further Trouble (Autographs)

Jameis at hearing:

"I didn't come here for no reason. Guys, this is ours to take. And like I've been saying, we control our own destiny. Are you innocent? I'm innocent if you innocent. Fine, we innocent then."

(Walks out of room to applause from everyone in room, and FSU's Dean triumphantly rips up documents for hearing and throws the shreds in the air)

This dude needs a role model. And FSU needs to force him out after this year.

Why wait? If things are 1/2 as bad as they seem on the outside looking in, it would be in their best interested to suspend him indefinitely starting now pending clearance of all smoke.

Knowing the extreme disciplinary action of schools like them we may have to face the fact that in all likelihood jameis will end up being suspended from the game...........

.....for a series.

Who knows if we beat them, but it's shaping up to be epic if we do.

ND has its fair share of haters, but people I talk to at work (OSU idiots) actually respect ND and what they did, whereas outsiders are starting to hate FSU, Jimbo, and especially Winston. There's no respect for them IMO.

People will actually be cheering for us next week and it could be the national coming out party for ND and be a huge boost for the program in about every way I can think of.

This is what the D.O.J. is supposed to help with in investigating; not local law enforcement issues like the Mike Brown case in Ferguson, MO where the police haven't even finished their investigation yet or only looking into politically partisan/politically favorable cases that furthers a political agenda/narrative....

If these reports are even somewhat true, it is thoroughly embarrassing and repulsive....it would show a true need for a complete overhaul from Law Enforcement to University Leadership alllllllll the way down to the FSU football team....There are some horrendous allegations of violations of justice and rights....This is a bigger issue than Jameis Winston and Jimbo Fisher; this is a criminal corruption case involving a big money university and a police dept that does things differently as it relates to that university's current cash cows (i.e. athletes) in how they protect and amend charges/police reports and sweep under the rug serious crimes...How is that any different than the mob???

I'm a realist; not a hater of Winston and FSU...as it relates to his rape case; criminally the case is flawed...the accuser backtracked on statements, changed stories, and has character issues....and yes, she helped her accuser avoid charges by the stupid actions SHE did....Winston did what anyone in the position of losing their life behind bars would have done, and I don't begrudge him blaming the accuser, lying about incidents, and playing dumb on other incidents....it is the burden of the police/prosecutor to show a crime was committed...they failed....but the bigger issue, is were they even truly trying? Were they in collusion with the university? Had the evidence been tainted by police mishandling of things? What role did the university play? And this is just one case, with so many moving parts, and it is hard enough to get a conviction for rape or any sexual misconduct....the reports coming out, the editorials and investigative journalism pieces coming out....they show a very scary picture of just how "in-control" the University really is, and has been, FOR YEARS....this a systemic problem; not a Jameis Winston problem...he is just the continual migraine that they couldn't hide or protect or cover-up anymore before leaks started coming out...

At this point, I don't expect FSU to do the right thing, like suspend JW while this plays out and gets investigated fully, honestly, and ethically.....Only Universities with some set of values puts their honor ahead of wins on the field....and quite honestly, I want him to play against ND, just so our kids can show this school how to whip someone's @$$, shut a punk kids mouth, and show a university how to do it right; winning even while a few of their stud players are suspended/investigated for lacking honor (regardless of how frustrating that process is)....I hope FSU goes down in its entirety; not JW or Jimbo Fisher; they're just pawns and expendable pieces in a system and culture that is corrupt beyond words....Maybe Eric Holder can actually do his job and investigate something that doesn't further an agenda for once and get back to the rule of law and standards....

Something stinks down at FSU, and it isn't the hot crab legs hidden under Winston's bed....
