My daughter recently committed to play college soccer. I’m pretty excited we’ll be able get her thru debt free and the school is close to home. She’s still got one more year of high school but its flown by. I know everyone says it but enjoy it while it lasts.

Congrats Wiz. Just don't be spending $75 on baby shoes he'll outgrow in a couple of weeks.

Wiz, were you able to be in the delivery room for the birth? Due to the current epidemic, some hospitals are now keeping even the dads out and only allowing essential medical personnel in the delivery room.

Our hospital uses what's called "birthing suites" so it's the same room for labor, delivery, and recovery. My wife is allowed one companion per day (i.e. me) but I was allowed to be there start to finish. We have a private shower in the room and my meals are included, but I can also come and go as I please. There's a screening every time I enter the hospital that consists of a questionnaire, temp check, and supervised hand-washing. No visitors besides the one dedicated companion.

Just waiting for them to snip his willy and then we can go home.

I recently watched this TED talk with a Lawyer that defends dads and fathers that care.

Congratulations! That later-in-life child is a ton of fun.

Not an Alumnus here, but my Son graduated from ND on Sunday. Was a bummer not to see him walk across that stage. He didn't seem overly bothered by it, he just missed being able to hang out with his friends.

This story was from awhile back, but I was just reminded of it and I had to share because it's Tiny Trouble and it's funny.

One summer we went to Gatlinburg with the kids for a vacation. Other than staying with family in the cottage on Lake Erie, it's still the only vacation we've taken over the last 10 years. It can be a bit of a challenge because of my son Landon who is on the spectrum. You never know what he will like and what he won't like.

My wife got the itch to go horseback riding, so obviously our first concern was how Landon would handle it. The people at the ranch were incredibly understanding and let us know if he couldn't handle going down the hill during the first 100 yards of the trek he could come back and we wouldn't be charged. Landon rode with my wife, Philly (Tiny Trouble) rode with me, and my daughter Olivia rode solo. Very early into the ride Landon began giggling and was in the happiest of moods, he absolutely LOVED being on that horse! That was incredibly reassuring and would have been great to experience...except Tiny Trouble began screaming his head off and wanted down immediately. I didn't make it more than 40 yards with him before I had to turn back and wait for the others at the stalls.

An hour passes and my wife and two kids come back. Landon apparently laughed and giggled the entire time, she had never seen anything like it! It made me wish I could have gone too, so I started grilling Philly, "Why didn't you like the horse ride?" He wouldn't say. I peppered him with questions about it for months after, and after some time I got this:

Me: "Philly, why didn't you like the horse ride in Gatlinburg? Tell me, I want to know!"
Tiny Trouble: "Daddy, I can't like it. Horsey hurt my tinky winky!"

I died. Guess there just wasn't enough room in the saddle for both of us
