My boxing experience is limited to playing fight night on the 360.

That was not fun to see an American get dominated like that

I was cheering for Wilder simply because he's an American, but I do like the Gypsy King. More likable. Did you see him trolling Wilder, mimicking him on the couch with his GF lol.

It looked to me like that changed the fight. His balance was really off the rest of the way.

I agree. He looked off balance big time.

It's beyond me why EA hasn't made another boxing game, I thought they sold well? There was something so satisfying about seeing knockout replays in Fight Night 3 and 4. I'll readily admit that my defensive strategies were horrible in that game. I tended to do this thing where I leaned my head back while blocking my stomach, waiting for the opponent to throw a big punch so I could counterpunch. If I was facing another counterpuncher I just threw 500 jabs like Ali, danced around them, and beat them on points.

My dad was a big boxing fan and very knowledgeable about the sport. When I was 13 he bought 2 pairs of gloves and taught me to box. By 15 I was hell on wheels in the ring. 22-1 as an amateur and in only my 5th fight I knocked the reigning AL Golden Gloves champ down twice and the ref stopped it in the 2nd rd. I was fighting in the 145-150 range, but thought I could whip anyone in the world this side of George Foreman. I was certain I was going to the Olympics and had a career as a pro ahead of me until I ran into this guy https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/41815s, Carlos Elliot.

We didn't have an official fight. We just sparred for 3 rds. one night when I was 17. He took me to school. I didn't discover until later, but he'd already won a couple of state Golden Glove titles and would go on to be the US Army champion, go to the Olympic trials, and be the #1 contender in the super welterweight division as a pro.

He never hurt me at all in our sparring session (though he certainly could have). He just showed me that he could hit me at will and I couldn't do anything to him in return. In 3 rds. I think I landed about 2 jabs and a glancing hook, while he tapped me about 75 or 80 times. That was my last time to ever wear a pair of boxing gloves. I went home realizing there were a lot of guys as good as he was and I'd better focus on college. :)

I rewatched the Fury-Wilder fight this afternoon. What a one-sided butt whipping. The right hook that knocked Wilder down in the 3rd is almost certainly the shot that ruptured his eardrum. From that moment on he was toast. Just never recovered his equilibrium and it was little more than target practice the rest of the way. I'll give him credit for being a tough SOB and hanging in there another 4 rounds. I couldn't help but wonder throughout the fight when Andre Braugher became a boxing ref. :)

I'm sure Fury and Joshua will be on a collision course now. Maybe Fury takes a warmup or two first but maybe not if the money is there to make a superfight. Iron is definitely hot right now.

It will be interesting to see where Wilder goes from here. I would like to see Wilder-Usyk. I think Usyk probably takes him, but he is still basically cruiser-weight size so I want to see how he handles Wilder's absurd right hand.

Also, Wilder badly needs a new trainer that has his best interests at heart. That fight was over in the 3rd, he clearly had a punctured ear drum and no legs. No legs = no power and no speed. Maybe calling it early, before it became a beatdown, would have set up a third fight. With the way it ended, no one cares to see it become a trilogy.

Agreed Wilder needs a new trainer after his lead trainer ripped Breland for having sense to throw the towel but Wilder is what he is hes not going to learn to box at this point. He has one weapon, its a great weapon, but he is not a skilled boxer and won’t become one. Fury, however showed he can win in a multitude of ways. Fascinating to see him tale the fight to Wilder and how Wilder had no ability to adjust to fighting off his back foot. I think Fury would go back to boxing on outside vs AJ but would still be victorious, albeit in a less entertaining fight.

Wilder says he is 100% exercising his rematch clause for the summer.

He also says his legs were weakened pre-fight by the 45 lb costume he wore walking to the ring lol.

I've never seen anybody like Tyson Fury. His size, his speed, quickness, nimbleness, power, jaw are just incredible.

This isn't the WWE. You're not a Vegas showgirl. You're not Cher on her way to an awards show. You're not Ru Paul nor an extra in a Hollywood musical from the 40's. Walk to the ring like a badass draped in just a robe or a towel a la Tyson or like the old school tough guys like Marciano or Louis. Stop with all this bullshit silliness and flash. You're supposed to be a badass fighter, not a Mardi Gras dancer. Want to put on a show? Do it with your fists in the fight.

Amen brother. Throw on a black towel, bump some old school 2Pac and come out like a bad ass ready to knock someone out - not this sideshow freak BS.

Seriously. Can you picture Louis, Marciano, Duran, Frazier, Tyson, Big George, Hagler or any of the other genuine BMF's dancing like a pimp on crack and wearing a Vegas showgirl's outfit or being carried into the ring on something from Cleopatra's garage? Walk to the ring like a man and then beat your opponent's ass like he stole something from your mama.

I completely disagree. The Gypsy King stuff is what drew me in. "Stoic badass" is fine for boxing fans but it doesn't sell PPVs for the casuals.

riding a chair is fine. putting on a 50lb samurai costume (or whatever the hell it was), is stupid.

Last fight I ever saw was June 8, 2002. The cover charge to see Lewis vs Tyson that night was pretty obnoxious, but it was a fun ass kicking to watch and Dos Equis were $2 bottles.

When fighting a foreigner, it's in every American's best interest to do the Apollo entrance. Come into the arena ready to dunk on the bad guys.

The whole country would burst into a USA chant.

Yeah, I don't understand the problem with Furys entrance to the ring. That's how I arrive through the doors at work every day.

TYSON.

It would be more of a show than the Last dance. I sat there as a 14 year old and couldn't understand the Buster fight...
