Tyson said "I'm Back". Michael Said "I'm Back".
I would root for Michael to come back and dunk on Lebron, but that's a dream.
If Tyson comes back and replaces both eardrums In Holyfield, (even In a charity match) I would be just as happy.... Close anyway..

He had two shots at him in his prime and couldn't do anything with him. Holyfields chin and counter punching were unreal.

Hey, You know what they say about opinions?... They're like Nipples, Everyone's got more than 1

Ya probably need to start talking and listening to those closest to Mike. Just listen to his Podcast. It's a good start....
I'll even give ya a 1 up... Joe Rogan Interviewed him a year or so ago.

P.S. It was as far from his prime as the word prime means.

The fact that Holyfield was something similar to a middleweight and was capable of the bulk up and win. Most that know think it was his reason for success. People don't remember. Mindframe.

We Irish could learn from It.

He was In deep with Cus D'amato. Once Cus died and Mike started to not trust anyone In his inner circle, he fell down just like me or you would have. It's not about me being right, It's false information that the mainstream spreads to tear down those that tried and succeeded. We would all be lucky If he came back with his own new story.

Holyfield and Tyson were both past their prime in those fights if you want to get technical

Anyone gonna watch Tyson vs Jones Jr...

I'm feeling the need to watch, like when folks slowly drive by an accident.

Yep. I love both these fighters. I hope they put on a show and both get out in good shape and then never do it again.
I'll be watching from the Hunter Valley NSW Australia.

Watching the thunder from down under lol. What time will that be for you. 2ish right? Nice little mid day fight for a Sunday.

I love Tyson, even with all of his flaws. I remember his rise while in HS. I remember being so pissed for paying like 30-40 bucks to go watch him on the big screen at some venue, and he had a KO in the 1st... I know he declined pretty fast, but he was absolutely the most vicious fighter I've ever seen. I honestly could see Jones Jr getting seriously hurt if Tyson is indeed back in shape.

The undercard starts at 1pm here and the main event is predicted to be 3pm. It is Sahara desert level hot here right now and I am struggling to get the energy.
Yeah, Tyson was in his prime and the alpha man on earth when I was my most impressionable as a sports fan (aged about 10). I watch his fights on the tube a fair bit.

I think I've talked myself into trying to find it on Kodi. It'll probably be better than any of the football on unless LSU makes a game of it in the 2H.

I watched just about all of his fights back then. Watched a doc on him recently. Very interesting story. Still a few sandwiches shy of a full picnic basket, but I think he's at least found a happy existence, or at least a somewhat stable one. Definitely a guy I'd love to have a few beers with lol.

And he was 5'11, 218 and fighting guys 6'5, 240 and would just crush them. It was unreal. Fun times .. almost 'ludikwis' times lol.

Tyson fights were always major get togethers in my house.

Looking back Tyson is one of the most overrated "greats" ever.

Haha. Just make sure there are plenty of munchie options for him. He has an unusual palate.

Speaking of, the pre-fight fights are taking longer than I thought. I need some munchies lol.... I think Mike is off the ears now.

If you grade him length of career, I'd agree. But he was, and still is, the most vicious and powerful boxer I've ever seen. And I don't think it's even close.

I take it you aren’t old enough to know just how dominant Mike was. He is up there with all the greats!
They had a video game named after him before they named video games after anyone.
In his prime he was the best there ever was and it’s not that close.

I think it’s cliche to call Tyson overrated. He was an animal and one of the last of the “classical” boxing greats. By that I mean, he and Holyfield were the last of the big time puncher heavyweight boxers. Then came along Riddick Bowe (IMO the best HW of the era) and he ushered in the the new wave of 6’5+ super-heavyweights, that would be followed by Lenox Lewis and then the Klitschko brothers. The latter of who even though scored their fair share of knockouts, where much more technical fighters that you see more commonly in the lower weight classes. Which kind of makes for boring fights as they don’t have the elite speed and athleticism nor the stamina for the high volume punching capacity that you see with the top welter and middle weights. And so the Heavyweight division all but died and boxing with it. Fury and Wilder brought a mild revival, with the latter being a bit reminiscent of your classical puncher but also probably more flair than substance. Fury could maybe be the complete package with the personality included but is a bit of a headcase himself.

Hyperbole much? An over the hill Larry Holmes and a cruiserweight champ bumping up to heavyweight. "Major wins"... that's the list.

27-0 before winning a title, and defended it for 9 or 10 fights over 4 years. The Tyson/Spinks fight was billed as a huge one, with Spinks being undefeated. He KO'd Spinks in the 1st in like 90 seconds.

Now you can say the competition was down during that period, but he didn't loose a fight in the 80s.

It was much better than I expected. I don't know if either was really going all out, but it was no "let's take it easy and not hurt each other" exhibition either. I agree with you: Tyson clearly won and looked better.

Draw was lame but also not surprised. I don't know if I'd say they were going all out. Mike rarely targeted RJJ in the head and it was the expected hugfest not slugfest.

Glad I streamed.

Agree, it was better than I thought. Aside from a bit to much hugging early, I thought mainly by Jones Jr., both gave it good go. When it was announced, I had super low expectations. Then I thought Tyson might hurt Jones Jr.. Both did a pretty decent job for being 50s. Wouldn't doubt if see Part 2... I have to admit though, I was hoping for a Tyson to KO him.

Yup, I think Tyson would have done a lot more damage targeting the head. He did a good job of body shots. I think it was likely the height/reach delta.

Tyson won every round. I understand it was an exhibition but its dithingenuith to call it a draw.
I enjoyed it, but I think Roy should bow out. Next should be Tyson v Holyfield.

Youngest heavyweight champ ever at 20.
Probably the most feared in his prime. His opponents looked frightened at times.
Vicious hand speed and power and foot speed.
I would have loved to see him in the Ali, Foreman era.
