That game was proof positive that Mike Singletary really is a bad coach...

I like the idea of tying four NFL teams to each AAF team, two from each conference and from two different divisions (ie: Cincinnati, Jacksonville, New Orleans, and say, Chicago), then each team sends 3 of their practice squad players (getting paid the same PS salary) down to the AAF for more game time experience. If any team wants to poach a player, the team that owns their rights has the ability to keep them by matching the price.

Maybe not this system exactly but something like it. The Practice Squad players are more talented and it would increase the quality of Football and investment in the AAF for NFL fans.

I think I’m gonna root for Orlando and Arizona.

Orlando because they got HBC, and Arizona because I’ve got family there.

Saw that...they should use the silhouette of that for the league's symbol, like pistol Pete for the nba.

Jerry West says hello.

I'll wait until the newness wears off to see how this pans out. As evidenced by the previous attempts to create another pro league, the XFL doesn't stand a chance unless they get serious funding for a minimum of five years.

Isn't Vince pouring in some ridiculous amount of his own money?

Yeah just looked it up, he's reportedly willing to invest up to $500 million.

As a guy who sat on the Charleston Catholic BBall bench and watched Jerry West of East Bank HS pour in 51 and 49 on us in two games, I'm forced to say BOOO!!!

He sat out the second half of both games?

Does that need italics?

We actually had two really good players about West's size. Both were 20-point per game scorers. West took one of them in the first half of our home game with East Bank, and held him to 2 points. The other scored 18. West shifted to the other the second half and shut him out. The first guy scored twenty. We stayed in the game because West couldn't be everywhere.

On the game's first offensive play, West drove the paint from the left side, and one of our two good players rose up and blocked his shot --- our hopeful crowd went wild. West was a quick study and spent the rest of the game burning up nets from 15 to 25 feet.

Later that season, the town of East Bank voted to change its name to West Bank for one honorary day. Later in his career, the state voted to change the state's name to Jerry West Virginia for a day. ... hard to imagine but true.

To save face, they're now saying this was a planned investment. I wonder if one of the financiers (banks or investment group) decided to pull out or not provided additional funds as originally planned?

It was a "planned" investment in that they had designs on an expansion (or relocated) team in Raleigh... in exchange for solidifying that promise, and basically promising him control of the league, they got the money they needed to avoid payroll issues lol.

So you’re saying we can expect Rick Neuheisel to be back on air w/ ESPNU on SXM soon, right?

It'll be interesting to see what happens... NFL might like having the AAF around as a developmental league of sorts and if the ratings stay where they are they'll have data to point to that says it can succeed long term... I wouldn't be surprised to see more investments comes in.

I don't think they will. Ratings are good at the start because everyone is curious. Once the curiosity is over I see ratings going down.

Probably, maybe just having football on will keep enough people watching.

Just suspended operations... sucks, at least would have been nice to get through one season.

There is still a chance. Couple reporters saying the league is still viable so all the involved parties are scrambling now to keep it afloat. It sounds like Dundon is out though and it will be up to someone else to save this. So basically we expect craziness for a while and we likely won't have certainty for some time.

Not surprised. I'm old enough to remember the WFL, USFL, XFL and Arena. Two are gone and the Arena is on life support right now along with the AAF.

On a side note, Johnny Football gets another swift kick to the boys right after his wife says adios.

Prez DJT needs to step in and fund the league. In the old days he owned one USFL team. Now he could own the whole league.

Maybe he could divert some of that money earmarked for the wall.

Sounds like it was basically Dundon's strategy. "We're gonna build a league and the NFL is going to pay for it."

I never quite understood that strategy. Why would the NFL pay for a developmental league when they get big-time college football for free?

Hoping the minors would turn a profit at some point...

I guess. But they’re competing with both the NFL and college football for audience and ad dollars, with a product that is almost by definition less appealing than either.

AAF PLAYERS WHO HAVE SIGNED WITH NFL

So far,
• Keith Reaser, Orlando Apollos (CB): Signed with Kansas City Chiefs (Adam Schefter, ESPN)
A fifth-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2014 draft, Reaser most recently spent time with the Chiefs in 2017. In five seasons in the NFL, Reaser has played 30 games, forced two fumbles and recorded one sack. Reaser recovered a fumble in Kansas City's wild-card loss to the Tennessee Titans in January 2018. The Chiefs released Reaser in September 2018. Reportedly, Reaser's deal includes $100k up front — $50K signing bonus, $25k workout bonus and $25k roster bonus.

• Rashad Ross, Arizona Hotshots (WR): Signed with Carolina Panthers (Adam Schefter, ESPN)
Ross spent the 2014 through 2016 seasons with the Bears and Redskins as a returner and backup wide receiver, catching 9-of-14 regular-season targets for 192 yards and a touchdown while adding another seven (!) scores in preseason action.
