I'll cheer for all of the seniors. I'm not a fan of singling out one guy just because people feel bad for the heat he has taken. Ironically the majority of the #thanktommy movement are probably the same who were bashing him over the years.

The entire group of seniors have played a major role in getting ND back to winning big games and competing against top 25 competition again. Definitely a lot to be appreciative of.

Agreed. I think this is more of a groundswell movement because of the knuckleheads expected to boo, etc.

I unfortunately won't be there to cheer in person, and I agree that ALL the seniors deserve a sincere thank you for the work they did rebuilding the program.

That said, I do think that Tommy deserves a special tip of the hat. Aside from doing as a freshman what Quinn and Clausen couldn't (beat SC), he's shown an incredible resiliency that I believe embodies ND. He took the applause and the boos in stride, never pointing the finger or demanding our sympathy. He lost his job to a younger player and used that as an opportunity to build up another young man. When "the QB Kelly has been looking for" faltered or got injured, Tommy gracefully stepped in, won critical games, and then just as gracefully handed the reins back to Golson.

Has he been the type of QB to become a legend like the greats of ND's past? No. But when they call his name on Saturday I'll be thinking of the Utah game in 2010 when ND was being bashed by the entire outside world as irrelevant and evil because of the Sullivan tragedy and years of on the field struggles. I'll remember the pride of that same season's USC win and his clutch performances that allowed us to have the magical 2012 season we had. Hell, I'll even crack a smile thinking of how purple he made Kelly's face because that was just plain funny.

So thanks to all the seniors, and thanks to Tommy Rees for playing his role, even when some told him he didn't deserve it.

It's not his fault Crist was a bust and he was thrust in. It's not his fault EG got himself kicked out. He's mistake prone and doesn't posses the best talent in the world, but he has kept ND from dropping. For the most part, he beat the teams ND was suppose to beat and then some. As frustrating as he can be, I'm thankful for him and would cheer if I could go.

Its not about singling one player out. Its about making sure that player gets his moment on Senior Day and not the 2012 Purdue moment. Kid has had his Ups and Downs but overall will leave ND better in a better place than when he arrived. Just trying to make sure people have a little perspective before they do something idiotic Saturday.

I can't figure the "boo a kid on his Senior day" guy... at worst, if you just can't help it, hold your applause...

Dammit. I strongly dislike Tommy the player but that article is well written and very, very right. Thanks Tommy for holding the ship above water and at times steering us away from the rocks. We found more than one safe harbor with him at the helm. Wasn't always flashy, but steady as she goes.

Tommy as life-saver is an appropriate analogy. I can't bring myself to say anything bad about the guy. Where would this program be now without him? I doubt Kelly would still be our coach.

If anybody Boo's any player on senior day then they should have their whole face slapped. As far as Tommy is concerned....he's the best we got. It's not his fault he isn't any better than he is. It's not like he has a boat-load of unrealized talent and he's not putting out. We were lucky to have him to fall back onto this year.

Has anyone ever been booed on senior day? Come on. There's no way anyone in their right mind would boo any of those kids in that moment.

Now, if he throws a pick in the end zone in the 4th quarter......I kid, I kid.

The people that boo Tommy are the ones that tend to forget that Tommy wasn't a 5* can't miss prospect coming out of HS. Through all of the ups and downs, Tommy has handled himself like a gentleman and has always put the team ahead of himself. He threw a few clunkers here and there, but for the most part he won a lot more than he lost.

My hat is tipped to you Mr. Rees.

I hope I get to meet him this yr. Last yr after the Wake game. We got pictures and sigs from half the team. Missed Tommy, and Manti, but I did get Manti's sig on a jersey after the Air Force game a yr before.

Ill be at the game, ill cheer my *** off for all of the seniors. They all deserve it, they are going to graduate with a top flight college degree from the University of Notre Dame

Ill say this, i was at senior day last year and when Manti was introduced the stadium went bananas, I'm not normally an emotional type guy but even that situation got me a little bit. I high recommend every Notre Dame fan sees senior day field activities at least once.

That is debatable, honestly. I think Kelly would still be our coach, but having Tommy around certainly helped.

It did go nuts I could not hear myself cheering. I video taped the whole game from section 1. It was a honor to cheer my guts out for that Senior class as well as this one. It has been a long road with Tommy.

I'll admit, I give Tommy alot of grief and never really give it thought about what if we didn't have Tommy and would rather think what if we had someone better than Tommy. I apologize to Tommy, he's just a kid, and I also am grateful for everything he has done for this program. #ThanksTommy

I haven't always been in Tommy's corner, but he's got heart and I can understand why he has the respect of his teammates. I will be cheering for Tommy to have the game of his life in front of the home crowd for senior day. Tommy, thanks for putting the team first and for playing your heart out every Saturday.

That was quite a moment.

As for Tommy, yeah, you'd have to be a real jackass to ever boo the guy. He plays his heart out.
