Riley Leonard did what we always needed a QB to do. He led a game winning drive. Wasn’t pretty. Wasn’t even close to perfect. But he finished it off. He never flinched. He fought for every fucking yard.

That shit is special.

Riley Leonard is the LEADER we sort of expected and wanted Sam to be. But Riley is HIM.

Marcus Freeman and Al Golden had massive balls all game. Any ND team of the last ten years besides maybe that 2020 team would break once A&M tied 13-13. Instead I don’t think A&M got another first down.

The offensive line needs some work but they’re not playing a line like that again.

I’m not concerned about Leonard. No pass rush is gonna be like that again. He’ll find a way to get it done.

I don’t have enough words for the defense. Every single player balled out and very few less than stellar moments. Man.

That was the best defense we will see all year and we still got the job done. Wasn’t always pretty but a W is all that matters.

They’re not all gonna be pretty, the left side of the OL had a rough night and the team as a whole had too many penalties. Leonard also was realllllly rough until towards the end of the game. Missed a lot of wide open guys and didn’t display a ton of touch.

But big positives:
-The defense is as advertised.
-Right side of the OL played very consistent all night.
-RBs made big plays when it mattered.
-WRs were pretty darn good when given the opportunity to make a play on the ball. They also consistently got open most of the night and ran way better routes than last year.
-Consistent field goal kicking.

Forward looking they just gotta get the left side of the OL figured out over the course of the season, hopefully by Louisville it’s passable.

Knapp was pretty good…. Pendleton was good when he didn’t completely mentally blow assignment, did it 3-4 times… Flanagan was worst blocker possibly
