Addazio will be gone after next season, back to mediocrity.

Got that prediction right.

I remember that Temple blogger that was talking trash too. He thought Temple was going to win 10+ games in 2013 and may even beat Notre Dame. His reasoning was that Temple had a couple favorable encounters with the same opponents as Notre Dame (He didn't even compare opponents the two teams played in the same year, he would compare a team Temple faced in 2012 to a team the Irish faced in 2011 lol ). When we beat the Owls up, he was like "OMG why didn't we use our H-Back (Their former QB) to throw 5,000 flea flickers?! We could have won, they'd never expect it! That's okay, we'll smash Houston next week." And then Houston beat them up. "No problem, we can still salvage this season, we've got an easy one against Fordham now." Fordam beats them by 1. Temple finished with 2 wins that season

They actually should be pretty good this season. They had an amazing defense last year and return just about everyone from their team. Rhule is a good coach as well, I could see him getting a B1G or ACC job in a couple years. I think they give Penn State a good game in week 1.

@ChiTribHamilton: Temple president hailing football revival: "We're gonna kick #NotreDame 's butt next year. We have a real football program.

I agree. This might be the year that gets him another job. They are going to be good. If Franklin left for the NFL this year (hypothetical) Rhule would be on a short list if the Owls had a 10-3 season.

As for the ACC, all he has to do is sit tight and he'll be in the ACC. Temple will join during the next round of expansion. They didn't have room last time they grabbed the Big East basketball schools and they know the B1G can't take them. What the ACC has to watch going forward is the Big 12 taking them. Temple makes a good travel partner for WV when it comes to non football sports and Philly is the #4 market in the country.

If Temple was an AAU school, the B1G would have taken them with the Rutgers - Maryland expansion and made Missouri, Kansas or Pitt a deal they couldn't have refused.

Temple is on the way up right now.

They might be on the rise a bit, but they still have no on-campus stadium and a pretty weak fanbase. They averaged 23k fans last season at home at the Linc.

I don't know how many more realignment/expansion spots are left at this point, but I'd imagine there are more teams ahead of Temple on the pecking order than there are spots available if there is any sort of expansion. Cincy, BYU, USF, UCF, Houston, SMU, Memphis off the top of my head all seem more desirable options to me than Temple. Boise and CSU out west are intriguing as well.

They're in a huge TV market which is a game changer, but that's really the only thing they have going for them.

It's not just a game changer, it's the entire game now a days. Ask Rutgers.

There are a gazillion realignment scenarios because Texas could leave for anywhere at any time. That sets off the chain reaction depending on where they go. I'm not sure which conference or conferences you were referring to for the schools you listed but Temple is in the #4 market which makes it a prom queen with a DD rack for the ACC even if the stadium is 10 miles down the freeway. If they are winning and in the ACC, they'll double the current attendance. There is a rumor that Texas likes the ACC if ND joins. I think Texas fits better in the B1G or the PAC but who knows. If I'm the ACC and feel that UT isn't going to join, I'd make sure I had Temple, WV, UConn, UCinn up north and UCF and USF down south all on speed dial. If they get any defections like Pitt to the B1G or NCSt, Va Tech, FSU, Miami to the SEC I'd go after Vandy and maybe even Kentucky. It's almost a given that we'll end up with four 20 team super-conferences. Why not dictate who's in your's if you're the ACC. Their choices are limited due to geography compared to the B1G and the SEC. Just thinking out loud.

There are 64 teams in the Power 5. ND makes 65. Who's losing their spot for ND?

I won't even mention BYU even though it's an hour from Utah but in the same overall metro area.

In the AAC East alone you have big markets of Philly, Orlando, Tampa, Cincinnati, Hartford. They aren't leaving those on the table even if they are sorta covered by other regional schools. One the west side of the conference you have Houston, Memphis, SMU and Tulane. 4 more big markets, two huge in Houston and Dallas. Remember, Houston has UH and Rice, they aren't leaving Houston on the table... it's 100 miles to A&M.

In the Mountain West you have Boise which deserves to be in any super conference system but you have San Diego St and UNLV.... and don't forget there are 1 million people in San Jose though Cal and Stanford are in the Bay area. Maybe they leave San Jose and Vegas out but San Diego's 3 million plus isn't getting left behind.

Some other things of the top of my head.... UTSA, San Antonio is a booming market. New Mexico and Alburqerque, Rice in Houston,

Too much money to be lost by going 64.
