Let me guess: God kept telling him he was a QB and now at age 33 God decides maybe he should give TE a try even though he should have done that in the first place ten years ago?

The Aaron Rodgers rumors buried this in under an hour.

He's going to need some wicked smelling salts to get Aaron Hernandez at tight end, too. There's a Justin Trudeau joke in here too, but I'm still hungover from the Omar Hunter flip.

Tebow is a guy that can basically come out of nowhere and get to the top of the news cycle, but Aaron Rodgers took his thunder before the train could get away from the station. It's pretty damn funny.

Between all the Rodgers drama and the Draft itself, this ended up being a nice nothingburger.

Good.

Why not just hire him as a coach if you’re looking for a cheerleader in the locker room?

I think this sucks some of the oxygen out of their summer camp and deflects attention away from Meyer and Lawrence with the media. It's pretty smart. Tebow is hype on two legs, which I don't necessarily blame him for, but he seems to get clicks and draw attention no matter what he's doing.

Whether this is intentional or not, I think it could wind up being a nice distraction for Urban at his first NFL gig and Lawrence being the first overall pick in the draft.

I honestly don't know why you'd *want* to distract from your rookie QB and new 'face of the franchise' guy.

Unless Urban is trying to make amends in the eyes of God for his previous poor decisions, this seems like Urban going back to the well to do his most beloved former player a favor.

And who knows? Maybe it works out and Tebow becomes a Taysom Hill-type of guy that they can do a little of everything with.

But I think it's more likely that Urban has irritated some of his offensive personnel, particularly the TE room. There are probably quite a few free-agent TE's in their mid-20's with previous experience as blockers that would be better signings than Tebow, at least if you're REALLY trying to strengthen your TE room.

So this is either a publicity stunt, which would be Urban taking advantage of his old pal, or this is Urban doing his old friend a favor, which is terrible business.

If Urban ACTUALLY believes that Tebow would be valuable as a TE, after 7 years away from the game and at 33-years old, then he's going to fail quickly as an NFL HC.

Dude is 34, been out of football and never played TE. Never stood a chance. I still think this was nothing more than a marketing stunt by Meyer to raise interest and sell tix.

The Jaguars released Tebow today.

Vastly more sophisticated than a marketing move.

Tebow went to the the Nease school, which abuts Jax in Ponte Vedra.

He is a big voice there in the media.

Tebow wanted one more shot, chasing his dream

Urban gave it to him.

and ever after, Tebow will be Jaguars Fan Boy #1.

this was no short term scam by Machiavellian Urban.

He got himself 10 mil worth of positive PR in one simple move.

It was never about football. Just Urban being urban.

And Tebow will be shilling, in good conscience for the Jags he practiced with and against.

No one thinks it was about taking some media coverage away from TL and letting him just play football?
