SMU is foregoing conference revenue completely for 7 years, STA and Cal are getting a reduced rate.

Can't understand SMU agreeing to that, except if they think pre-existing major conference membership will help when the whole thing gets blown up and we're left with the B1G and SEC super conference. Because that might happen before they get any ACC money.

One thing we all know, is that a bunch of Cal fans live near Dallas, and want to see the diving team participate there.

At least when conferences were regional, students could go to events and see their team play a somewhat local opponent. Now, you wouldn’t even be able to see them enough times on campus…

I'm so over modern Independence. Good in theory, was great for a long time, but it isn't optimal anymore. Can't wait for Jack to take a hike. It will happen eventually and once it does we'll all wonder why it took so long.

Lost time on the inevitable right move is the biggest loss in business, etc.

Well, if we joined the Big 10 we could still work it out to have one West Coast game a year. The old argument against joining a conference (not being able to play a national schedule) is dead now that the Big 10 and ACC are on the West Coast.

No but my life long friend/teammate is a P2 AD. Another teammate is maybe the highest thought of G5 AD. And this has been a big interest or mine since I worked at Rice in '91-'92 while another teammate (who is only a DIII AD) was working on a SWC/Big 8 merger proposal.
