They already have.
I had no idea. Shows how much I am paying attention.

I think this blog is vastly overstating the impact of Virginia and nc markets...
You're talking about the D.C area when you talk about Virginia. A very large and wealthy popluated area. I would imagine there are a lot of graduates from the B1G living in the area.
Don't kid yourself if you think the B1G is done expanding. They are very smart and deliberate on how they want to do this. It's all about the money.
But there are basically zero UVA sports fans out there. UVA is like Notre Dame in terms of size and academic prestige... but without any sports tradition outside of lacrosse and no bandwagon fans. People in VA/NOVA/DC/MD who didn't go to UVA (aka 99% of them) root for Maryland or Virginia Tech.
There is literally no draw to adding Virginia to the B1G when you just added Maryland... unless you're going for a 6th lacrosse to team to kickoff B1G lacrosse... and we all know that's not the driver.

ESPN reported during the Indiana/UNC game that Cincinnati is desperate to get into the ACC ahead of UConn or especially Louisville.
Can anyone explain why the ACC is so undesirable compared to the Big Ten?

Just a thought, but maybe the reason there is not a set year for us to officially join the ACC yet is because Swarbrick is waiting to see what all this expansion leads to? If it leads to the demise of the ACC, then we switch to the Big 12 without the $50 Million exit fee due to officially never joining the conference?
It's been interesting seeing the conference realignment BS start up again so early. It's been kinda funny, all I've seen in the B1G message boards that I frequent is that they've all but "destroyed the ACC" with the move of Maryland. They've been under the impression that UVA, North Carolina, and Georgia Tech were done deals to follow suit. Once those three lynchpins are out, they figured Florida State was bookin' it too. Now that UNC and UVA seemingly have solidified their positions, and with the addition of Louisville, it seems the ACC is just as strong or stronger than it was before.
Let's say the ACC blows up, but we're required to join a conference. Big 12 seems the most logical, but what if we joined the SEC? I think it's obviously that geography is no longer an issue here. I think it could happen. A SEC channel could now get the Chicago, Boston, and NY markets.
I wouldn't like it, but interested what others might think.
But, the Big 12 would trump this if staying independent was an option.
