I'm trying to stay optimistic and patient, but if the ND administration keeps screwing around, we're going to be left out in the cold. Nobody wants to be responsible for giving up independence, but there are so many positives to joining the B1G. I wouldn't have said that 5 years ago, but you've gotta adjust to the landscape

We're not going to get left out simply because the ACC hasn't blow up yet. That will probably be the last thing to happen before the two super conferences take over.

The writing's on the wall. The SEC is going to expand to match the B1G expansion- which schools do you think they're going to add?

I'd much rather be in the B1G than whatever's left of the ACC after the SEC raids it

You ever go to the bar with the hopes of getting laid? I have. There are all types of girls. There are the sluts like Colorado that will give a blowie, but you know anyone could gave gotten that. Then, there is the sorority girl that, on first appearance seems like a great deal. She's cute, has a great ass and has friends that are equally hot and witty. She's also digging you. Sure, you wonder whether your last penicillin shot is going to work, but a good lay is a good lay am i right? But there is also that chick with a great rack that won't sag with age and a body that let's you know no slippage after kids. She's smart and a pre-med major. You are not quite sure whether she is actually looking to hook up or not. But her mere presence is mesmerizing and you know you have to have her. Everyone wants her, it's clear. But some guys go for the sure thing. Others know how to play their cards and wait to pounce. She will be sacked, she we be wed.

ND is that babe. Nobody is leaving the bar without her. Book it.

Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think it's possible for ND to get left out.

I think JS has had this in mind for a while, and part of the reason that the B1G/NBC deal is important. ND and the B1G both have a convenient "excuse" for ND to join if ND's independence is no longer practical for playoff/bowl game purposes. If the B1G is at how ever many schools... they'll add ND and have an uneven division/pod, or they'll find a second team in the South East to add to expand the footprint while keeping the divisions/pods even.

ND *probably* has an invite to any conference it wants, whenever it wants. If they want in the B1G bad enough, ND will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

If for some ungodly reason they want in the SEC after all the dust settles, the SEC will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

It’s not even going to take that much. It’s going to take a phone call. Maybe we bring along another school - Stanford? - to keep things even and balanced. But you’re absolutely right about the TV deal, and we have a standing invite whenever we want it. We’re not going to get left out.

I feel terrible for Oregon st and Wash st. fans. A lot of fan bases are going to be hurting due to TV contact greed

This new alignment has to affect the college football “tournament”. There isn’t going to be a Power 5. Could just the SEC and BIG

Nd will always be welcome in major college football. Too much money not to be

It would’ve been awesome if ND could’ve started their own conference and been the foothold of that conference.

I think you're probably right that we won't get denied from the B1G if we wanted to join, but I don't get the point of waiting. Despite the media reports, I hope there are serious behind-the-scenes about joining within 1-2 years.

It's financially beneficial and there are potential advantages to being in a conference when it comes to the new Playoff format. Being Independent has no impact on my love for ND

After all the crying about ND being independent it appears the Big 10 is just making ND's schedule with an almost complete geographical mirror and less flexibility - on the same TV network(s).

*and ND didn't have to torpedo all the other sports for TV Markets.

If there is access to the playoff - and other sports are all set , f*ck ‘em - if not make a move .

Time to join the Big Ten
We are faux-indy already. A conference dictates almost half our schedule, hard to call that independent. Plus USC, Navy and Stanford permanently scheduled means we are fighting over 4 games; which includes TSU, Marshall type games.

Good work! See, that's my biggest current issue. The ND needs to play games in the south for recruiting purposes. That's the biggest difference between their current setup and being stuck in the current Big 10. If the Big 10 went out and got some teams in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Virginia, then we would be talking. Throw in an annual shamrock game in Texas, play a game a year in Cali, then we are golden.

Not to knit pick, but the Stanford series is over regardless of conference realignment after next season

Mmmm…I wouldn’t be too sure about that. Big money has a pretty good track record of destroying cool old traditional stuff and making it completely irrelevant.

That’s a big part of what ND hangs its hat on/the ND brand.

Nah. They’ll need games and so will we. Then I’d bet they’re our dance partner when we join the Super B1G.

I'm surprised the B1G didn't try to pick up Standford because of their history and academics, plus making a ACC styled deal with the B1G more attractive to ND

Any conference will take ND simply because of the brand.

Not a fan of college football becoming the NFL with an AFC and an NFC.

The rivalries are 10x better in college football than the NFL, the game was 10x better than the NFL.

College football was fine the way it was.
