Good hire. Should recruit Texas well. Only question would be if that Air Raid offense will work in the SEC.
People said Meyer's offense wouldn't work in the SEC.
I thought Richt was going to A&M :stickoutt
I guess Sumlin must have been a ND fan growing up.

They've never been all that great under Sumlin imo... they have that one win against bama, which is obviously a great win, but aside from that they've been very eh whenever I see them, win or lose.
Now would be a great time to bail to USC.
If he jumps, it will be for the NFL IMO.
Aside from one win against Bama, he hasn't done anything to earn that big paycheck.
That's the thing. He hasn't shown anything to get to the NFL. If he wants the NFL, his path is thru LA imo
That may very well be true. But I think if he was going to LA, he would have made the move two years ago. I do think his program at A&M is better now than it was then, largely due to bringing Chavis in. He has recruited like he is still in the Big 12 in the fact that he has focused on spread offenses with skilled players. But to have success in the SEC, he has to recruit up the middle of his defense and he just hasn't had success there yet.
His defense under Chavis is getting better but his offense has went backwards under the current OC. Gotta think he makes a change there in the offseason. Still... a .500 record in the SEC and third place division finishes should not cut it for the Aggie faithful and he is starting to feel a little heat. Never know with CFB coaches these days. He may very well jump ship and head to sunny southern Cal.
It's good to check in and see bad stuff on Sumlin and Meyer on the main page and no Brian Kelly Revisited.
On topic: Sumlin needs to recruit some drama-free qb's for a change. I never thought I'd see an Aggie defense keep them in the game. I say no way he leaves. Spavital is done if he can't fix this quick.
Give "Third and Chavis" a year or two and their defense could be pretty solid. Agree on Spav being done.... someone has to take the fall. In fairness to Sumlin, he has lost some pretty solid players to injury and doesn't have the depth to fill in for them. No excuse as everyone has injuries, but when you deal with depth issues, it does take its toll, especially on defense where he lost his best interior LB. Speedy and Kirk on opposite sides on offense would have been better for their QBs for sure. And losing a couple of solid RBs didn't help their depth there. Maybe he can get A&M up there if he stays around and gets everyone healthy.
What the heck is going on with their offense? I also don't get why Sumlin is a good head coach? I have not seen much to show me anything. He had a couple good seasons with JFF but other than that???
Spavital turned down multiple HC gigs to stay on as OC. What a difference a year makes. The guy was the toast of CFB and now he's a goat. (not in the Drake sort of way)
Yeah... I mean Murray and Allen are probably light years ahead of JFF coming in. IIRC last week or one before, Allen was struggling and.they did not even bring in Murray... they brought in the 3rd.string ( I think). How does that offense only manage 3 points against OM
