This was basically a complete, perfect game with the exception of two bad defensive reps deep in the 3rd quarter. A total demolition from the opening to closing whistles. We didn't play with our food at all and quickly demoralized Stanford, as we should considering our talent and record and theirs.

Onward.

Man, I am not as observant of college teams sans Notre Dame but I wonder if anybody is surprised Texas lost: they have been underwhelming except for the OSU collapse
The first offensive possession was terrible. Carr threw a pick hard to believe it was dropped. Apart from that it was very good.

The 2nd drive was kind of dumb too, but you're right.

It is insane how far Stanford has fallen. That’s my biggest takeaway.

If they decide to “play the game” like everyone else (except Clempson), they could get back to relevancy pretty quickly. They’ve got the coin to do so.

Sorry if I missed it, but did something happen to Gilbert? Did not see him on the field most of the day, seemed like Burress.

It feels like most of the academic-focused P4s are in this spot right now. The sport is changing faster than they’re able to (tho Duke, Northwestern and Vandy have each had their moments, anyway).

But I don’t really get it. Stanford could/should be a solid developmental program where good players go for three or four years, get a real degree, and then do whatever they want. Like, um, Notre Dame. They may not win titles but they could at least be competitive in the ACC.

Postgame Thoughts:
1. ND handled business on both sides of the ball
2. If Boubacar gets passed up in the first round of the NFL draft next year something is wrong
3. J. Love, I mean J. Walton had a helluva game
4. It was great to see Ian Premer on the field yesterday, I still think his role needs to expand (starter), he would bring back TE U
5. I was glad to see the 2nd string of WR's get some time with CJ Carr
6. I am impressed with Noah Grubbs pass
7. I think the depth on this team can wear down BYU and Miami

Go Irish!

Very true but what I liked was the multiple times later in the game where Carr pulled the ball down after realizing he shouldn’t throw it.

Two housekeeping plays on being super nitpick of the defense. The TD drive:

- 3rd and 6 conversion. Bunch set. Talich, Gray and McKinney. It’s clear OPI on the TE. He is two hand blocking Talich which also blows up Gray. I mean it’s laughable how bad it was.

- Big pass. 100% bust on Jayden Sanders. Everyone played Cover 3 except him

A few non-football-ish take aways:
  • They are tearing down Keenan & Stanford Halls
  • Dr. Ken Dye retired in June - new band director
  • Lyons Hall is currently closed and undergoing renovation
  • They no longer sell programs...just a "yearbook."
  • Two women in the Irish Guard this year.

Looks like Howard is now a transition dorm like Zahm
