I just hope that after this game and not getting the opening kick, Kelly realizes that maybe declining, and scoring right before half and getting the ball back the second half is a good strategy... A man can dream right?

I literally couldn’t be happier today. We did to Stanford what they usually do to us and out physicaled them. David Shaw can get a big fat dlck in the mouth. Book has completely changed the look of the offense. I was a Wimbush guy but will gladly admit I was wrong. Great win.

God why do I hate Shaw so much and have so much glee at his angst? I don't know what it is about Shaw but I can't stand that dude and he makes me actively hate Stanford in a way I wouldn't otherwise.

Just got home from the game.

I mentioned we needed to pressure the QB and we did poorly in the first half which allowed Stanford to stick around. The second half was a different story and Costello showed he can’t deliver when the heat is on.

Crowd really stepped it up in the second half.

I was impressed with Trevor filling in for Bars.

Best O call of the year was the pass to Mack.

All around great play by the entire team.

Stay dialed in gents.

Schadenfreude is the perfect word. We beat them so soundly that there is nothing he can do but compliment our players and scheme. It's glorious.

Solid win Irish. Had Stanford outclassed all night. The only negative was that there wasn’t five quarters in the game so you could have kept on whipping Shaw and co.

Only an Alabama fan would look at a 21 point win against a top 10 team as “solid”. Honestly, it’s got to be boring being a Bama fan. Not as boring as actually having to live in that state 😜

Saw the news on Bars (ugh), and Tranquil (I guess that's fine?). Any word on Tony Jones?
He did not look happy when he got hurt, and didn't come back in. Dex was great but we very much need Tony, too.
And I'm guessing Kahlid is OK?

Postgame thoughts:
1) DEXTER WILLIAMS!!!!!
2) The crowd was really into the game (like USC's last year), it was rocking from start to finish, and it's too bad it's not like that for every game
3) Our offense never let up, I loved the up tempo they used.
4) Book plays smart football and he is confident. His 4 TD passes were to 4 different WR's.
5) Our D made Stanford pass the ball and it seemed every other pass they made was a pass block by our corners.
6) JJ Arcega-Whiteside is very good, you'll see him play on Sundays.
7) All cylinders clicked for ND on offense, defense, and special teams.
8) Dexter F'ing Williams!!

Go Irish!!

Crowd and atmosphere seemed better than the Michigan game. Crowd brings it for usc and stanford

Just got back. Hell of a game! Did some tailgaiting with @arndtjc for a bit, but otherwise just chilled with the family at our tailgate until game time. The stadium was rockin' pretty good! It wasn't 2005 USC rocking, but it was pretty good nevertheless. It was loud from start to finish, no lulls while Stanford was on defense.

The university is doing a great job using the big screen to amp the crowd up. Just about every time the Cardinal had the ball they'd play a banner at least once during a drive that said "Stanford wants you to be quiet!" That got the crowd pumped. There were some funny bits too. At one point they started playing the Friends theme song, then they showed Alize Mack /w his name displayed in the Friends theme font. Next came Cole Kmet, same way, followed by Nic Weishar, Daelin Hayes, Julian Okwara, and Khalid Kareem. At the end it said "Ends" to cap off the Friends theme. The crowd got a good kick out of that. Another big pop came at halftime when they honored the Women's National Championship team by playing We Are the Champions and having the band re-enact the winning shot:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/richarddeitsch?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@richarddeitsch</a> RT <a href="https://twitter.com/MsMiyayo305?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MsMiyayo305</a>: Yo. ND band is on some next level ish. They just recreated the womens national championship game winning shot... on the field... thats dope <a href="https://t.co/lsXbB5MMeK">pic.twitter.com/lsXbB5MMeK</a></p>— Tim Frommer (@tfrommer) <a href="https://twitter.com/tfrommer/status/1046229883259486210?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 30, 2018</a></blockquote>

Overall it was a hell of a game, lot of damn fun. I don't have much to say about the play of the team other than it was one of the most complete games I've seen them play against a quality opponent in that stadium. Book has ice water in his veins, it was great seeing Dexter get unleashed, and Tillery was an absolute monster. I'm so happy.

Not serious. BK expects him to be out there with Dexter next week

Tillery got national defensive player of the week. Not a big surprise.

Really? They were saying high ankle sprain which can be troubling. In the post game radio show they said they could hear Jones scream out when he went down. If it's really not serious, that would be great news.

Anyone think Tillery is better than Rashan Gary and Dexter Lawrence and should go higher in the draft. I do.

It's the west coast chill. He has a swag you can only understand If you spend some time in the best atmosphere on planet earth. I hate his demeanor too.

Best crowd I've experienced at a ND game. When we went up by 21 with 8:00 left to go, I thought maybe the crowd would be a little less vocal as we appeared to have the game in hand. Instead, the crowd was as just as loud as ever. It's like the crowd was trying to do their part to step on the neck of Stanford. Back to back sacks by Tillery and the roof came off the building.

Just finished watching the game on the DVR. Very impressed with the toughness both mentally and physically. Defense is playing great assignment football. The only mistake was Loves TD.

Serious statement, I wish that he really would rethink his logic behind receiving the ball. But I know that I am dreaming

Loves TD should have gone 10 yards the other way. There was a BLATANT hold right in the hole. Not sure what ND player it was, but he had a very good chance at making the play but was literally ridden to the ground by #74 from Stanford who had an arm bar around his neck from behind and tackled him to the ground. One of the worst missed holding penalties I have ever seen.

The (I believe) play prior to it, on the outside screen to him, there was a blatant hold on Bilal(maybe?) where you could see his shoulder pads as his jersey is getting ripped down.
