Slightly more, I believe. The north wall is staying where it is but that scoreboard is coming down.

I wish they would reduce the north wall a bit in order to expand the view of TD Jesus. However, when I asked the architect, he said that's never going to happen. To do so would involve major structural issues associated with the 1997 expansion.

From my experience, you can see the library from anywhere in the stadium that was added in the last expansion back in 1997. Unless you're in the north endzone of course or are in the south endzone directly facing the scoreboard on the north end. Makes sense to remove the scoreboard on the north side if they're putting up a big Jumbotron on the southern end but it's not going to benefit anyone in the original stadium to be able to see TD Jesus.

I will go on record saying I knew this nearly two years ago! October 19, 2013 by 9:00PM. At the SC game. At that time the man in charge indicated that more of TDJ would be visible. He made it clear that the North end-zone renovation would be less obstructive, and I guessed that he was moving the score board to the south end. He said it was better than just that, so I guessed he meant Jumbotron. He made me swear to something like a blood loyalty oath. It has been so hard to be quiet . . .

Thank Goodness, I can breath again!~

Hold your breath????? But what about your post from October 19, 2013 by 9:01PM where you told us that you just talked to a guy about a Jumbotron going up with the upcoming renovations?

Wow the stadium is going to be a train wreck this season and next. But that career center is sexy as hell...

Video board will be 96 by 54, so 110 feet on the diagonal and just under 5,000 feet square. About the size of Baylor's.

This board will help with home field advantage, theoretically. If a poor call is made or a bad play missed and the crowd is given an opportunity to revisit it in slow motion, their collective reaction can lead to greater stress on the official to make-up for it. I know it's not supposed to happen but we've all seen quick flags after bad calls/missed calls.

Plus, it'll be nice to see replays on a big screen. I like it.

While it will be nice to not have to text buddies on a challenge/replay to determine the right call, I'm so dreading lucky kiss cam, racing leprechauns and watch the football under the moving leprechaun hats...that's going to be a sad sad day. Dance monkeys!

I will miss the days of nothing to do during timeout other than both sides of the stadium in a close game cheering GO....IRISH... While we wait for NBC to come back.

...or complain about how nobody cares to see the men's crew team, women's volleyball and the law department (buzz kill). On the other hand, it would be nice if these presentations were replaced with bye bye rocket highlights.

This came up in the webinar today. They specifically said no kiss cam. They said replays, on-field presentations, and "What would you fight for?"

Thanks. That's good news. This could be really good if they do it the right way. If they do all that tacky stuff, it will detract from the experience. Fortunately, ND is usually pretty classy. Stay classy south bend...

I'm really starting to change my mind a lot about the stadium expansion. This is starting to seem more intrusive than I anticipated. Last season I would jog around the stadium at 7am before every home game - it's nostalgic because I have so many amazing memories there as a student. Now it feels like those are being trivialized by adding 2 monstrosities under the guise of progress.

The in-game atmosphere needs to change, but this doesn't feel right anymore.

Three monstrosities, not two.

Four if you count the FieldTurf.

I'm actually the opposite of you. I hated this when it was first announced but the presentation yesterday got me pretty excited. It's not really a stadium expansion per se, since the vast majority of the space will have nothing to do with football. The student rec space, classrooms, and career center will be state-of-the-art. Having recruiters conducting interviews in Flanner was a bit of an embarrassment.

You seem to forget this is all about creating a place for students to study.

Duncan Student Center (West), Corbett Family Hall (East), and the Music Building (South). Also, see my edit above.

Ah yes for the band-dandies.

I like all those other facilities; they're definitely necessary updates. I just feel like the expansion is compromising the integrity of the stadium. As I watch ND shift its educational philosophy more towards a Midwestern Ivy, I worry that future students won't find solidarity with the school, but with flashy, new buildings. I'm afraid they'll lose a sense of the history of the stadium, which is an integral part of the ND student experience unless you're from China and never bought student tickets in your whole 4 years.

The history of the stadium, it's iconic look, and the gameday experience is a common denominator for all alums and current students. I don't want to lose that connection with future grads.

When is the administration going to focus on the one project that has actually needed to be done since the dawn of time? Blow up Stepan Center.

It just dawned on me that there are two different illustrations floating around on the internet.

Am I correct in assuming the bottom one is the one they're building?
