Is this happening or are you just getting my hopes up in order to smash them down.

It will happen, the developers are just waiting for the smoke to clear... 2017 is prob too soon (i forget that that is next year already) I say we have a college football game of some kind within 4 years for sure.

I'm also of those bastards.... every year when the new NCAA came out, I'd change ND's base playbook to I formation or some such, because "power running"... I imagine when the next game comes back in ~2017 I'll still do the same........

I could not name more than four teams that still use a legitimate power-run game with a fullback regularly involved,

Stanford
Michigan
Michigan State
South Florida

You don't need the I-formation for power running. Ace backfield, two tight ends, pull the guard. Toss left, toss right, option right, toss left, counter right for the touchdown.

I am loyal to the coach. I make it work with the playbook provided.

Don't misunderstand, it's not a hill I'm willing to die on... I will say this...

- When I coach, and on video games (lol) I want a freaking lead blocker...
- I do wish ND had some kind of power back that can lead block in short yardage and goal line situations, I do believe not having that as even an option has hurt at times...
- You still won't see me at the "Bring Back the Fullback" rally outside the Gug.

I don't think they'll ever sell beer and I've never seen beer being sold at basketball or hockey games.

If anyone was wondering. They handed the ball off to Wright up the middle for a TD.

Just what a poster said on 247. I've never been.

Father Ted would roll over in his grave if they ever did that lol

And I strongly suggest you go to a hockey game. ND hockey games are so fun but are very underrated in terms of athletic events on campus

I still don't understand why they don't just produce a generic CFB 16 ect. Just release a fully customizable engine and let the fan base create the rosters, logos, conferences, and stadiums. No one plays with the standard rosters anyways. They would make soooooo much money and save themselves all the time and trouble it takes to create all the stuff people change anyways.

I've never even been to ND but I'm still pretty sure the policy is something like:

You can have alcohol on campus for tailgates in a select area of campus... it's not to be sold at or brought into venues.

I have no idea why someone would think they sell at hockey games but not other venues, that makes zero sense to me and I'd be shocked if that were true.

My guess is they license some aspects, maybe unis and stadiums... and go completely generic from there. I'm fully expecting another game, I think it's clear we get something at some point... I'm also fully expecting it to be far different from what we were previously used to...

Is there distribution infrastructure for that on console? I know PC game mods are pretty ubiquitous but would you run into legal problems trying to distribute that over Xbox Live or PSN?

I'm not following, how would that be different from the custom rosters that were already being shared (that had nothing to do with the lawsuits)

Oh I didn't mean it as a defense of the spread offense or to indict the use of a fullback. It was just an observation about the current landscape and the lack of I-formation-based playbooks. As Wiz mentioned, there are plenty of teams that still use the power-run game out of singleback sets (like Bama) or even shotgun/pistol sets (like Utah), but even then the fullback is still rare.

I, personally, switch back-and-forth from an I-form offense to an air-raid offense in NCAA from season-to-season. I like both styles of play equally for their own merits. I love attacking horizontally with an air-raid playbook and then attacking over the top when the moment presents itself. When I get tired of that, I'll switch to Willie Taggert's playbook and utilize a fullback all damn day and pound the ball for three yards and a cloud of dust.

(My favorite playbook that I made has 1 formation for passing the ball. The rest is Power-I, Maryland-I, Wishbone, and Strong-I. I think I also have a flexbone formation thrown in. It's awesome sauce.)

I didn't know that was a thing.

Regardless, post-O'Bannon, I expect Microsoft and Sony would be a little wary of allowing that content on their Interwebz.

I'm also pretty sure no matter what they come up with the players will get a cut somehow, I actually think that part is already in place... I think a mass generic game with just unis and maybe stadiums should be fine (the sense I get is conferences, conference logos, anything specific to a real player etc. is pretty much off the table as of now), then the community customizes it as they see fit from there...

or maybe you're right, it'll be locked up and still generic... I do think it's a matter of time one way or the other though.

Hell, maybe they work it out where you can use the real players,... just maybe.

Yeah people are still releasing updates every year for the rosters in NCAA 14. I don't see why that would be an issue since no one would be making money off it. They can't stop you from customizing the rosters for yourself why would it matter if you share them with other people.

The custom roster where always way more accurate than what EA put out, so it's not like there would even be a downgrade in quality. Really all I want is an expandable playoff in the game and I would be totally happy if they just re released 2014 again.

You want to make me excited... let us totally customize the postseason with multiple options, BCS, playoff, expanded playoff.. and here's the kicker for me, Pre-BCS... where each major bowl mattered, I'd switch that option on so quick.. I'd be thrilled with that.

What would we run? Jet sweep, bubble screen, or fade?

Fade to the back corner...

Pretty sure you can file that in the "Shit Everyone Already Knew" section... lol

Ha... why's that? The blockers were lined up over the tackles and they could have done a QB sneak, up the middle, off the guards or off the tackles. Maybe everyone knew because the Stanford v Washington game last year was so memorable? lol

More just playing on the "of course they freaking scored, they were two feet away and it's Stanford"

Holy shit please stop I'm getting too excited for something that doesn't exist.

While we're on the subject of features we want, I would love to be able to play 2-4 full seasons of high school before you start college in career mode.

I would also love the ability to create a school from the ground up. Be I charge of the academics, the facilities, the construction of the stadium.
