Looks like BGI has all of its post practice interviews up on youtube. I haven't been able to watch, but Watt, Diaco, Josh Atkinson, Hiestand, Lombard, and Alford are up.

What happened to Day being an inside player (NT/DT) first? If he is only going to focus on one position, would NT/DT be easier than DE anyway?

I don't get it.

He is inside size too which is confusing to me.I feel like they need him more on the inside rotating with Nix than they do at end.

I agree-- kind of a head scratcher. And if I want to get REALLY analytical about it all, then I present to you Exhibit A: Tommy Schutt and his potential prowess as a true interior lineman.

Could be that he simply won't be ready to two-gap in 2012, but he's explosive enough to be useful in the DE rotation.

I cant believe that I am saying this without the sarcasm font, but i'm serious....

Do any of these guys have potential?

He isn't there yet. Won't show up on roster until Summer camp.

Makes perfect sense. I can see clearly now.

kind of disappointed in todays segment. would've like to see martin or kelly mic'd up and a 5 minute segment of them working with the QB's.
this was just fluff. and my suspicion is that it wasnt even from today--except for the interviews.

Josh sounds like Jamie Foxx to me. Just putting that out there.

Is anyone besides me confused as to why they have some of the QB's, namely Golson, being hit while wearing the red jerseys?
(Yes I know they have option reads, but they are still wearing the Reds, and shouldn't be hit.)

One because the defense needs as live of a look as possible. Two because Golson needs to learn to hold onto the ball. If he can't do it with a little bit of contact in practice, he won't see any game action.

They were just going "Thud" in practice not full contact.... and from my experiences if a Qb. can't take "Thud" in practice i doubt you want him starting a game for you......

Yeah. Didnt look like whoever was on D has a good look at him anyway, good blocking by whoever it was though.

This KINDA reminds me of the movie Moneyball when Jonah Hill's character was trying to explain that you don't need one person to replace one person. You just need EVERYBODY to pick up the slack just a little. Yes, it hurts losing Floyd as you know he is going to beat his man (and sometimes another) 95% of the time. Asking Davaris to come in year 1 and fill the void is outrageous, but asking Davaris, Toma, Riddick, Goodman, Neal, Brown, TJ, Eifert and others to all do a little more is very realistic.
Great movie, great analogy!

GITF - Thanks for the updates! Has anyone heard if there have been any significant depth chart changes since the start of spring practice? I apologize if this has been covered in previous posts (this old married guy with kids doesn't get on IE as much as he'd like).

They have not been announced. Coaches seem to be keeping a pretty tight grip on that information. What we have heard position wise:

Shembo is gonna be at CAT. Spond and Councell and DOG

Jackson and Wood appear to be leading the CB competition so far (most experienced-Jackson getting high praise)

Lewis-Moore has been practicing behind Lynch and Tuitt (seems to be because of his injury tho)

Absolutely no information on QB competition (keeping that under wraps so far besides admitting Reese is most experienced)

I may have not heard Coach Kelly accurately but I am pretty sure that he told Golson that he is going to have kids begging to be on the roster with him. He seemed to be spending the majority of his time(at least during this film) with Golson, then Hendrix, then Kiel. I like that know s what our weakenss was and that he is taking it "back to the basics." He knows if we eliminate the turnovers in the redzone this is a BCS football team. I also really like the fact that him and Martin are spending the majority of their time with the qb's. What one misses the other will deffinitely catch. I believe Martin turned Grand Valley's one qb into a National Champion qb from a wr. I think our guys are in good hands.
