So going into next year our QB battle will be
Buchner Senior he will have 2 years of eligibility after this year.
Angeli Jr redshirt with 3 years left
Minchey Sophomore redshirt with 4 years
Carr incoming freshman
I can see a scenario where Buchner wins and Minchey bolts or vise versa I think Angeli could also be a great QB perfect scenario Buchner, Minchey and Carr I think are all capable of winning us a title

2007: Demetrius Jones, Zach Frazier, Jimmy Clausen, and THE Evan Sharpley!

On paper there was a lot of talent there, but it was a pretty young and inexperienced room.
Demetrius was a 4 star prospect and the #2 Dual Threat QB according to Rivals at the time. He was chosen as the starter, but was benched after a game and transferred to Cincinnati where I believe he ended up playing defense.
Zach Frazier was a 4 star prospect and rated the #6 Pro Passer. He ended up transferring to UConn and was a 3 year starter, as well as leading the Huskies in an upset over us.
Evan Sharpley had the least talent on paper as a 3 star QB, but saw a lot of meaningful snaps that season after the Jones situation and inexperience/injuries.
Who knows what happened to that Clausen kid.
Oh, man. I was at that game. Georgia Tech. Brutal. IIRC Jones was benched at halftime, and he transferred out within two weeks. As far as bad seasons go, 2016 had nothing on 2007.

Yep. I was there too. And you’re right. Jones was benched after the half.

Next year's QB room will included 3 of the four (Buchner, Angeli, Minchey and Carr). I doubt if anyone knows which 3 it'll be.

Buchner isn't losing the job. Angeli will probably be in a close battle with Minchey for #2 and that keeps them both around for the season. Carr will be new and just fine.

Its 2 years from now if Buchner stays that I think we lose MInchey and Angeli if they're not starting or second string due to being jumped by Carr. That's the year I am worried about.

Merriweather switching to #5 is looking very appropriate. He reminds me of Tee Higgins. Just a ridiculously smooth athlete for his size.

Styles looks to have regained some of that explosiveness we saw as a freshman. Don't know why, but he looked pretty stiff and slow last year compared to 2021. He's looked FAR better so far.

Thomas, not much else needs to be said. He is a big dude, runs good routes, goes up and gets the ball and is deceptively good in space.

If I had to make a call today, the starting 3 receivers would be Merriweather, Styles and Thomas. Surprisingly, doesn't seem like the transfer Kaleb Smith is making a lot of noise. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, because it means the younger guys are passing him up.

It's a testament to how insanely improved the WR room is this year compared to last year. Last year, Kaleb Smith is probably starting off the jump, if not, he's definitely in the primary rotation with Lenzy, Styles, Thomas and Davis.

Colzie looked good the second half of the year. I think he'll start.

Prister didn’t have glowing reviews for the O Line in this last practice but said Schrauth and Kristofic were the starting guards.
From the sounds of it, Carmody was actually the starting LG but he went down early with an injury and that out Schrauth with the ones. As far as the top 3 OG’s go, it doesn’t seem like there is a consensus best performer between the 3 of Schrauth, Kristofic, and Spindler.

Whoever it ends up being, the ceiling of this will ultimately be determined by our ability to line up and impose our will.

Carmody must have been suffering from some kinda injury because he hasn’t gained weight in years.
