Flores was heralded for his route running. It shows. He's not a burner. He's probably a 4.5-ish level receiver. Good, not great speed.

But he wastes absolutely zero movement in his routes. Same way that made Kyren such an effective RB it makes Flores an effective receiver.

He's likely to be in the rotation as a freshman.

He looks the best so far of all the frosh receiver. Pretty quick, strong route runner, pretty good size, and catches the ball well. Receiver talent is significantly improved from last year. Kaleb Smith brings some pretty nice production and experience to the group.

Hartman is the #1 reason I have a little more hope for success this next season. Nothing against Buchner, but Hartman seems to be the man.
He didn't come here to not start. Buchner is very talented but also is inconsistent. Hartman has put crazy yards, tds, and has a lot of experience. Parker and ND are lucky to have him this year. Truly feel the sky is the limit for the '23 offense.

As we would have thought so last fall at home against 3 TD underdog Marshall. Oh well, I digress!
I think he should have red zone packages and short yardage packages where a running qb is more advantageous than elite passing qb … but Hartman is sneaky good At read option near goal line

Buchner should play a fair bit - both to diversify our offense and to develop him for ‘24 - but yeah Hartman is QB1 and that really shouldn’t be in question.

buchner should get reps because we need to get to a point where we are kicking ass. I dont like having packages for him. Let 10 cook

Buchner should play every game regardless of score.
Developing him should be one of the highest priorities of this coaching staff. Hartman is dreamy, but he's a one year merc and nothing more.
24 and 25 are riding on #12.

Jack Kiser is actually
Showing up in most first round mock drafts
I really like Kiser, but I think he has a next to zero chance at first round. Maybe a day 3 pick. But he just does not have round 1 measurables, and at LB especially that is a necessity to go day 1

24 and 25 are reusing in having a great year in 23….. this year is set up to be a really good team. That MUST happen. If it meant minimal time for Buchner, so be it. I truly believe if Dlline/lbs can improve we will actually blow out some teams this year.

Kiser got somewhat benched last year, he struggled a bit

100% agree, Hartman wasn't brought in to sit. ND/Buchner needs Hartman and Buchner needs another year of the role he played in 2021.

I am impressed with all of our WR's. The group looks like they are a veteran group, Hartman will make them look good & they will make Hartman look good. Thank goodness Stuckey didn't go to the Ravens.

I may be missing something but I thought it was more that he played the third LB position - rover - that came off the field when we went nickel, which was fairly often. As opposed to being "benched" for poor play. There were times he felt like the most effective of our three starting LBs.
Either way I've no idea where first round projections are coming from. Kiser's fine, but I'm hoping for upgrades across the board as Kollie, Sneed and JT establish themselves as too good to come off the field. That would be one of the best things that could happen for our defense in '23.

Yea the coaches literally said our D was better with a 3rd safety or cb in even in red zone or running downs than having Kiser in

Imagine if Kiser goes in the first round while JOK did not. Jebz.

I don’t see him getting drafted at all unless he really improves big.

To highlight IrishLion’s original post:

Practices #4 and #5 are on Wednesday (3/29) and Friday (3/31) respectively, but are not open to the media.

Media coverage will resume this Saturday (4/1) with practice #6.
Calling it now:

ND has announced that Ronnie Powlus has un-retired from football and will be starting with the 1's on Saturday.

In addition, they will be moving Joe Alt from LT to placekicker.

Gerad Parker will announce that he is splitting playcalling responsibilities with the backup waterboy.

Devise a new scheme. Line Buchner up in the Slot, Hartman passes to Buchner behind the LOS who can either run with the ball or pass again. Looking for scheme names.
