Huh? Why would he go to LSU after probably winning another championship at Bama. It's not even a lateral move. I don't see why Saban would be pushing him out either but I have not followed Bama that closely.

i would imagine he has a REALLY good shot at the houston job so might be a moot point....however i couldn't imagine coaching under saban...kiffin and him have had some riffs between each other and kiffin doesn't get the recognition i think he wants as saban gets almost all of the credit...orgeron and him are boys.....lsu is going to pony up some big bucks because they don't have to with orgeron but they are in aranda and will for OC....Also take a notice who LSU just offered at the qb position...bama commit Tua

From some of their sideline interactions it seems they butt heads often. Maybe Lane would rather work under one of his buddies rather than a dictator.

I personally would feel very awkward working for someone that used to work for me. It would make me feel like a failure.

Apparently the two of them just butt heads on a regular basis.

Better stepping stone to getting a big-time job or NFL OC job (no clue if he wants that) IMO. Saban and overall talent is still going to get the credit there even though Kiffin has been great. If he can replicate that success at LSU, he'll be golden for getting a big-time coaching job.

Well, if the shoe fits....I mean, this is Kiffin we're talking about. He's kinda been a failure everywhere but 'Bama, and look what he has to work with.

It is a lateral move... financially it's a move up. Just because Bama is better on the field, doesn't mean it's a better job than the other same tier problems like Texas, OSU and Michigan. He's going to make significantly more money at LSU than he did at Bama, probably at least 25% more.

PLUS he will forever be known as the GUY who could teach the qb's how to throw an actual pass....and bring a change in offensive philosophy that they have been craving down there ...he might get a statue...he might be more regarded than the head coach

Mark Helfrich joined ESPN radio earlier today and told listeners that he reached out to his former boss Chip Kelly about returning to lead the Oregon program.

he felt bad for the assistants who would be losing their jobs and thought he could save their jobs if kelly came back since most were assistants under them....

I've done it a couple of times. I hired a guy who worked for me. He always appreciated me giving him the opportunity and liked working for me. About 5 years later he had worked his way up at another company and said he had a position that was a perfect fit for me working for him. I accepted. Later he left and I had an opportunity in the same company but didn't want to move to Vegas. I recommended him and he landed the job. Forward three more years. He's at another division in the company and asks me to come to work for him. I took the job.

If you have an ego or think that anyone that worked for you can't be as smart as you, then I guess you might have problems. I was always happy for his success.

Purdue: According to a tweet from Dan Dakich, “Not declaring it ‘done’ yet but Jeff Brohm to Purdue is doneish.” Dakich adds that he hears “press conference Monday”.

Dakich might be right, but he's wrong all the time. Just 20 minutes ago I heard that Purdue was about to land Fleck. I have no idea how strong either statement is but they came from the local sports talk shows.

Lots of reasons
1. Raise in pay.
2. Chance to beat Bama which is a feather in your cap.
3. Chance to prove your success isn't simply a product of working for Saban.
4. Betters your chances of landing another HC position.

Keep in mind I spent like 10min on a Western Michigan board. But, the general feeling I was getting is that they are thinking Fleck to Purdue. They have the idea ( rightfully so) that ND is a little to uptight to hire a guy like Fleck.

I didn't say I would not be happy for someone. I just said I would personally feel weird about it.

Muffin must have got the Houston job. Was originally supposed to be done coaching after today. Staying on for playoffs. Doubt that would be case if he was going to lsu as OC

Good, hopefully they can swoop in and steal somebody decent.

I was hoping for Brohm from WKU, but I think it may have taken too long to dump Tuberville now that Purdue is in on him.

See that Briles had door slammed in his face in quest to return to UH. The baggage he's toting must really stink.

Essentially it says that they want this thing wrapped up quick and he hasn't been in direct contact with them and if he interviews it will be at the earliest Monday. Which according to this report is to late? Idk know why.

I'm reading between the lines on this next part...

But looks like there are two main boosters who aren't into 'style' they want a solid quality resume and on paper Fleck doesn't really have one.

Strong or Fleck would both seem too good to be true.

Idk if UC has the money to keep Strong out of a Power 5 job of some sort, and I feel like Fleck would take a Power 5 opportunity first.

The Mothership says Brohm at WKU and Neal Brown of Troy are leading candidates for UC.

I'd love Brohm, because I think he'd have a NY6 team by year three, before he takes a big job. Not as confident in Brown, but I'd still be okay with the hire.
