Are you shitting me? I'd take Emery in a second over Millen.

John Clayton reporting that Rex Ryan will not settle for a D-Coordinator job, and will go into broadcasting if no HC job offers.

Seems kinda dumb to expect only a HC gig after his last few seasons.

He'd be fine with the right OC. His persona would also make for fantastic TV, though.

He'll be fine w the right OC and a decent QB. He has been QB handicapped since day 1.

Agree he'd be perfect in the both, but his ego is getting in the way if he says he'll only accept a HC position. I thought he fell short as a HC. Part of the job of the HC is to work with the GM to get the players he needs and to hire the right assistants. I thought he did a poor job developing an offense.

Bears should get Ryan as DC, Haley as OC and Brian Kelly as HC.

The possibility of Kelly leaving ND has been raised on this board on a number of occasions. Now I don't know whether Kelly (or his agent) is actively exploring NFL and/or other college options at this stage. However, I had the opportunity to one of the players on the team about two weeks ago before the semester ended. I specifically asked him about these rumors. He had no idea whether this would be the case either this or the next year. However, he did mention that players themselves were concerned that Kelly could possibly leave. In other words, my impression through that conversation is that the possibility of Kelly leaving is there and this mood is shared among some players. Again, I don't have anything concrete and am just passing along my assessment based on my interaction with one player (N=1). So, take it with a grain of salt.

That undercurrent is devastating to the fabric of a team.

It shouldn't come as a shock to them though. 1) His name has been brought up multiple times the last two seasons. 2) He flirted heavily after 2012. 3) He's obviously regarded as a good enough coach to warrant the attention, else this wouldn't come up every year. And 4) It's his agents job to put out feelers. None of these mean he's actually leaving.

Millen drafted a WR that was out of college for a year with their #1 pick one year.

The Bears hired a guy from the CFL to be their head coach.

The correct answer is that you wouldn't take either one, and if your life depended on it, you'd make sure your will was in order.

Pretty sure Sumlin was joking too. You don't fire someone publicly on twitter.

From a real job, no. There is precedent for this kind of stuff though... like the guy who wore a Sooners shirt over to Gundy's house.

Apparently he dismissed those rumors

Yep. But he didn't dismiss the bigger problem at Ga and that's the apparent riff between the coaching staff and the AD. I hope Richt stays forever and a day at Ga... the right coach at that school could be dangerous.
