As a ND fan and a Bears fan, there is nothing more I would like to see than the Bears getting Harbaugh and Michigan fans getting some crap coach because of it.

Funny. I wouldn't expect Shaw to even get a sniff at a NFL HC gig. Harbaugh to Bears, Mora to SF, Soso to ND would be delicious.

Shaw was an assistant w/ the Raiders so he's been exposed to NFL coaching culture. I think he ends up in the NFL at some point but he's still a young guy.

Not sure who this turd is, but if so I can't see this being good news for UM, as UM fans seem to think it is.

Yeah, it levels the playing field for NFL teams to get into the mix without the restrictions. Weird that they'd just fire him and not opt to try to collect any sort of buyout/compensation.

Honestly though, I'm really starting to think he might go to Michigan. Lots of weird circumstantial evidence that they're arranging for an announcement/press conference of some sort on December 30th. So it's really up to the Raiders to make a splash because Bears/Dolphins seem off the table.

There is no doubt in my mind that Harbaugh is going to end up at Michigan. If you guys remember when Saban got hired at Bama, it was very, very quiet during their search then all of a sudden boom went the dynamite. This seems eerily similar. I hate to see him land there, but all signs point that way.

Isn't Balas one of the most least respected Michigan beat writers? I remember people on MgoBlog making fun about how he is wrong about everything.

Also, no one on ESPN is reporting that SF is going to fire him.

Harbaugh would fail so hard at ND. If he can't get along with his GM/owner... how the hell would he get along with ND admin?

Worth the gamble and keeping him away from UM. He actually has worked at a school with high Academic standards so I think he would be pretty good.

I see your point but Harbaugh is a better NFL coach then Saban was. Saban always seemed like a college coach whereas to me, Harbaugh seems more like an NFL coach. He's better off in the NFL IMO. And with the way Michigan's roster is currently constructed, it doesn't appear that they'll be any good for awhile.

This is a great point, and one I think is getting widely ignored. Look at Michigan's roster. It stinks. The only proven guys with talent are leaving this year. So whoever takes the job, is also going to have to completely revamp his roster. This isn't like Urban taking over a talent rich OSU team, this is a bad football team. This is not a plug and play squad, the new coach will have to be someone willing to take part in that sort of rebuilding project. I'm not sure that's really that appealing.

I remember a few weeks back, I forget where I read it, but one of the websites had said that Michigan no longer believes in Shane Morris and the Hoke staff did such a poor job at recruiting that the depth just isn't there. There's a reason why they've sucked for a while. Yeah, the incompetence of Hoke and the staff to develop but also just a clear lack of talent.

The last two years of recruiting:

(247 Rankings)

2015: Currently ranked 90th out of the nation with only 6! commits. (ND currently has 22)

2014: 20th but only had 16 commits. (ND had 24)

Whoever gets the Michigan job has a HUGE task ahead of them. It will not be easy. Frankly, Oakland is setup better currently then Michigan is.

Harbaugh is going to wind up at UM....and good for them....college football is always better when UM and OSU are legit contenders....

Here is the thing...where else would Harbaugh go? The Raiders? The Bears? The Jets? You can say UM's roster stinks; it does....but is a helluva lot easier to rebuild a college roster at a big time program then it is a pro team with diva millionaires and lack of star QB's....Harbaugh's ego and his drive and his schtick is perfect for college football....He needs total control (like Saban)....He is focused (like Saban)....He will be given plenty of time to succeed....he will probably be on the 5 or 6 year plan; not the 3-4 year plan most coaches are held to; as this year's UM recruiting class is craptastic and he will want his first full of year of kids to be juniors and seniors before expecting anything close to competition....in the NFL, you almost have to hit the lottery on a QB and lineman....money talks....an intense coach can only motivate so much....coaches make less than the players they're coaching and that creates conflict....

But we shall see.....my vote is him going to Michigan as every other NFL franchise looking for a coach are complete messes and the reports of him having handshake agreements with UM have been out there for over a week now.....

I wish he was coming to ND....but then again, I don't think ND could handle, or tolerate, his personality....UM embraces it....that's why we're class and they're an ass...just sayin'....

Ehhh disagree. There's an incredible amount of parity in the NFL. College? Not so much. Michigan has won one national title in the past 65+ years. Who's to say Harbaugh is suddenly going to change that?

I get what you're saying, but how have our rebuilding efforts worked out the past decade plus?

If this does happen does Georgia look in house for their next OC? How successful can Bobo be at CSU?

Also found this interesting in the link on the tweet.

LSU: Defensive coordinator John Chavis has agreed to a new three year deal worth $4 million to remain at LSU, according to Derek Ponamsky of ESPN Baton Rouge.

Well deserved money IMO.

So here's an interesting question... let's say Harbaugh does go to Michigan... does he punt on this recruiting class, or does he try to add bodies?

He knows literally nothing about any of the prospects out there this year and doesn't have a staff in place. This isn't a college coach whose recruiting coordinator has binders on guys and it's just a matter of picking up the phone to call people you already had a relationship with at a previous place. At the point he'd take the job, he wouldn't have watched a single minute of high school film, nor spent a single moment on the phone with any prospects. He also doesn't have time to watch film while trying to assemble a staff. He'd have to either:
A) Go down the 247 Composite cold calling people and just hope they're good/interested.
B) Go through all of Hoke's offers (seems dumb considering how Hoke had a horrible eye for talent and that's the reason the roster currently sucks on offense) and see if any are interested.
C) Hire assistants who currently have jobs in CFB and go off of who they like and try to leverage those pre-existing relationships.

Would be a herculean effort over 6 weeks no matter what... or he could just see who picks up the phone to call him, and save spots for a gargantuan class full of EEs next year.
