Smart move by Grantham. He was gonna get fired next year if he didn't turn it around and Louisville is paying him a shit ton

If I heard correctly it's a mil a year, 5 years guaranteed. If true that's the most insane contract I've ever seen for an asst. coach. He's not even worth what he's being payed now. Petrino's first choice was Kevin Steele presently on Saban's staff and who coached with Petrino at Arky. But he turned Petrino down.

Richt doesn’t want to coach the rest of his life. Some believe he could shut it down sooner than most think. Keep in mind this is pure speculation. No one, not even Coach Richt, knows how long he wants to coach. My bet it's longer than people think.

Goodnight.
@Rand_Getlin: Hearing Ed Orgeron may be the new DL coach at #Alabama. Nothing definitive yet, but source says it'll happen "unless they hit a snag".

Steele turned the job down more due to him still getting paid for his Clemson stint. Taking the Louisville job would have meant he would lose out on most of the money Clemson owed him. But for Louisville to pay T. Grantham that much is ridiculous. Ga fans must be estatic with him leaving.

I think if Smart takes the Georgia job it would be to get out of Saban's shadow. Some will always perceive it's Saban calling the shots at Bama. If Smart is a success at Georgia he'll get full credit hence better HC opportunities.

If Smart takes the Ga DC job it will be for one reason only... to eventually be the HC there when Richt leaves/retires/is fired. For Richt to hire Smart, is he signing his own walking papers? One has to think the patience of the Bulldog fans would be even more less than it currently is.

Coach O getting a ton on talk for DL coach at Bama after their's left for Texas.

Saw reports saying that Ed Orgeron is expected to join #Bama staff.. I am pretty sure that's NOT gonna happen. Never was.
— Bruce Feldman (@BFeldmanCBS) January 13, 2014

David Gibbs is apparently the name to watch for Georgia DC.

BamaOnline just confirmed what Feldman said, Coach O isn't going to Bama.

Couple of interesting things here. Bama is interested in Chris Wilson from Ga, Haley from LSU, and Hobby from Clemson for DL coach. Rumor is that Orgeron is holding out hoping that Kirby moves on to Ga. Then, he becomes a candidate for the DC job. I don't know if Kirby goes but right now I would say no. Out of the three DL coaches, I like Wilson and then Haley. Hobby has ties to the state but would be my third choice here.

Well looks like Bo Davis, who had just accepted the USC job, is now going to go to Bama instead. At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see Coach O end up back at USC.

Wow, truly is the silly season. Not sure what Coach O might be holding out on but very surprised he hasn't garnered more interest for HC positions. If I didn't hate USC so much, I would actually enjoy watching him coach the Trojans after Sark continues them down a path of obscurity while getting Hayden fired.

Could he go NFL route? I know he has the one year there, but I am not sure how well he did. I think it would be major ego check going back to USC.

As a Titans fan, what do you guys know about Whisenhunt? Apparently he's supposed to be a good coach but I only remember his later Cardinals teams which sucked.
