FWIW.... ESPN just had 'breaking news' scroll across the bottom ticker saying Mack is expected to resign by the end of the week.
I heard something similar on Fox sports radio this morning, so there's probably something to it.
I am a firm believer that if he is being forced out, then they already have Plan A and Plan B in place.
I posted that I believe? Or maybe I just reposted in on Facebook? Anyway, here's the link but the article has been taken down: http://www.burntorangenation.com/2013/11/24/5139922/gus-malzahn-next-ut-coach
Tier 1: Saban and Urban
Tier 2: Briles, Gundy, Malzahn
Honorable Mention: Shaw
But the article said Saban was a smokescreen for Malzahn...
I firmly believe Saban will be the next Texas coach. I'll eat my crow if it doesn't happen.
Do you guys think that when they say, "step down" they mean "fired"? I'm assuming that it's what that means when Mack is denying it and in FL recruiting. Kinda embarrassing for him.

Am I the only one who thinks Texas signing Saban to a ten-year contract would be a mistake for Texas and Saban?
Dude's 62. He's won all there is to win already. He's used to controlling a much smaller pond under a considerably less-intense microscope. The expectations will be out of control. Sure, the money's great but he won't have time to spend it anyway. It's really hard to stay at the top of big-time college football for as long as he has, let alone another decade.
I dunno. I think he'd be better off retiring from Bama in a couple of years and they'd be better off getting someone younger.
So what happens if Nick Saban gets to Texas, inherits a roster with 75% + players who aren't good enough or don't fit what he wants to do, and goes 8-4 his first two years? Between OSU, OU, and Baylor, one OOC loss or wtf upset each year creates a pretty reasonable scenario in which this could occur. It won't, but it'd bring so much joy.
Yes, I'm aware 70-somethings can be good football coaches. But the stakes for Bill Snyder at K State are a hell of a lot lower than they would be for $10M/year Nick Saban at Texas. It's all the stuff that doesn't involve coaching football games that wears you down.

Gross, UCONN is so bad.

Look back at Texas's recruiting classes for the past 3-4 years. They are great classes. It's easy to recruit being Texas, in Texas. He'll be alright.
