Exactly. Virginia Tech has a history of inexplicably stubbing their toe early in the season and then finishing their year as a top team in the ACC.

Having said that, I'm probably just high on this win, but ND still wins at VT next week. One of the monkey's that ND needs to get off their back is a big win at an ACC school. The FSU and Clemson game were both winnable, especially when Kizer was given more of the playbook to work with @Clemson, and I really don't even want to get into the FSU game and how that derailed the Irish. Although VT isn't as good as those FSU and Clemson teams, overlooking the game is a grave mistake.

To think, though, it wasn't that long ago that I was just hoping to beat USC. Or win a green jersey game. Or win a bowl game. Or beat an SEC team not named Tennessee. Regardless of the rankings coming into the game, I have a strong feeling that VT will finish the season as a top 20 team bordering on 10 wins. I'm now putting "get a big win at an ACC school" in the same category as "win a green jersey game."

Don't forget, we were better than Miami last year. Yeah the game was a disaster but we were the more talented team. The FSU game still pisses me off to this day because we had won that game. We outplayed them. The Clemson game in the monsoon was fluky.
