We might end up getting beat, but I've watched a good portion of this Western Kentucky game and can pretty safely say that we're not Western Kentucky.

Going into the game a lot of media thought WKU would put up points b/c of their passing attack. After OSU limited them to 10 points it was reported that WKU relies on short passing game & screens so while they completed passes it played into OSU’s defensive strength. OSU is too athletic to get beat on edge runs & short passing game.

I assume Parker knows this as well. I’m fine mixing in an end around for misdirection purposes when least expected but as far as direct runs to the edge, I don’t see that juice being worth the squeeze.

WKU looked awful in that game. From my recollection they also had quite a few turnovers. Everyone is saying the OSU offense and defense has progressed but you can argue that their quality of opponent from week 1 to 3 has decreased. IMO

OSU’s defense is much better than Clemson’s D from a year ago so I’m not suggesting otherwise. But Clemson also had a few guys from that defense go in the first round of the NFL draft earlier this year so they had talent.

Sam had one of his best days against that defense when WF lost in 2OT.

20/29 for 337 yds & six TD. Zero picks or fumbles. Running game only accrued 110 yards. So it was all Sam & his WR. Let’s hope ND’s WR take the next step up vs better competition.

I am seriously considering buying a book, hiding in the basement, recording game, and getting a good nights sleep and then check score sunday AM and watch if we won. I am a heart attack waiting to happen every game I watch and my wife’s out of the country so afraid I may die or stroke out and nobody find me for a few days if I follow my usual watching patterns.

Or bubble screens, don’t need those either …attack the line with runs and that opens the middle to TEs and incuts that Sam throws really well.

South Bend has had several big games over the years, but this one feels different. There’s been a buzz around the whole city, not just campus. Notre Dame Stadium is always great during night games, but I get the sense that it’ll be turned up to a whole new level on Saturday.
Was listening to the radio this morning and someone said they had spoken to Golic Jr.. He's getting the same vibe talking to people and thinks this is the biggest game since the 2012 NC.

Careful what you wish for. I am particularly gross and obscene in the Gameday threads. Although it’s never about pooping and farting, can we get a moratorium on sea turtle talking about his farts? Asking for a friend

What I fear is another Georgia like game. We come so dang close, but in the end lose. Once again the 4-19 versus top 10 gets another addition (4- 20 last 30 years) and media labels us as not worthy of playoff speculation.

I'm from SB and I've seen it mentioned by a few people I know that agree with you.

If the Irish can win this game I think it would be absolutely massive for rejuvenating this fan base and the program.

I think the crowd is really going to bring it on Saturday night.

This is not hyperbole. A win would absolutely blow shit into the stratosphere.

Things would go to 11. My nether region feels like it was struck by lightning just thinking about what the after effect would be.

Both teams have concerns on the OLine. OSU has bigger concerns-their running attack has not been very good where the Irish rushing attack has been extremely good. Both are concerned about the Dline with many QB pressures but small sack numbers.

Irish stack up well with this team.

QB and RB advantage, Irish.
Secondary advantage, Irish
WR advantage, big time OSU.
Everything else seems rather equal.

Heart and desire will win out.
If I'm being honest, the d-line and linebacker positions favor Buckeye, but the o-line favor Irish.
Luckily, QB and o-line win out in this matchup.

Not sure if it was already stated, but is this game going to be ACC officials?

**Edit - hard to find online, but eventually located the answer on IB Nation Sports Talk - ACC OFFICALS confirmed
The ACC hates the Big 1sixteen0 more than us.

A lot of the podcasts I've been listening have said this is the biggest home game since 2005 USC. I agree this is a huge game, but sort of puzzling. You would think that the 47-40 win with #4 ND and #1 Clemson would have reset the conversation on this topic.

13,000 people were there. If it was 47-40 in a packed house it’s a completely different story

I think the pandemic and Lawrence asterisk would have that correctly lower on the scale than 2005. I don't think even this game has reached 2005 levels of hype to be honest. 2005 USC was insanely big. One of those games where to knew you were making a core memory.

Fair enough. Agreed on the core memory, it was the first game that I really remember, that was my first season watching ND football.

I remember everything about that day despite drinking a million beers. Even remember Penn State losing to Michigan on a last second play immediately after the Push.

Hate that a lot of the national scribes are picking ND. Mandel, Feldman, Dodd, & Ralph Russo to name a few. I prefer the underdog role from a national perspective. My least favorite national guy, Dan Wolken; thinks Irish should be favored.

And of course, most of the OSU scribes are picking OSU to win w/ a fair amount predicting they win big.

Haven’t heard any ND scribes go w/ ND in a close win.

OSU thinks Ryan Day has been holding back and is ready to “let it rip”

I have zero idea at this point

I’m assuming College Gameday will be setup in front of the library/Touchdown Jesus. Does anyone know where Pat Mcafee is broadcasting from tomorrow? Any sign of a pep rally?
