Anywhere good to eat close to campus? I think our plan will be to get there early and park to get a spot and then walk around campus and hopefully eat lunch/drink before going back to tailgate.

Get a steak sandwich from the Knights of Columbus in the middle of campus. Just ask someone where to go and they will point you in the right direction. I would also suggest that you find an ND tailgate with people your age and challenge them to some sort of friendly competition. You will probably make quick friends and drink/eat for free after that if you are respectful and fun.

I've already booked a house down in Austin for the game next year.

What time do people generally start tailgating? Am driving down from eastern MI and plan to arrive around noon and make some friends to tailgate with. Is there a designated IE tailgate?

Thanks, is Legends of ND Pub just a disaster on gameday? Seems like a cool place, but seems like it'd be super crowded.

There'll be people there as early as they let them in the lot haha. But I'd said the majority of tailgates will probably kickoff around 1 or 2

I am taking a motor home to a campground 6 miles from campus. I'm sure we will all be drinking before we go to campus so does anybody know if there are Ubers in South Bend?

Legends is cool but it is a mad house on Gamedays. The only thing it's good for is communicating to friends about where to find you in the parking lot.

I wouldn't bother on game day. If you're in town for a few days before or after the game, it's a good spot for lunch, dinner, or drinks. My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner there.

I would love to play some cornhole/bag toss or whatever it's called with tailgaters, what's the etiquette for joining someone's tailgate? My buddy and I won't make it into South Bend until late Friday. We did pretty well in '13 considering we've never played before, I guess horseshoes is a close enough game.

For the game tix, I picked mine up from the post office today, are these supposed to be plastic? I was expecting paper tickets like most every other event but these are similar to what I would expect as really nice tickets!

Appreciate it. Any idea if an uber from South Bend can go a few miles outside of the city?

I was in SB in the spring for the NCAA hockey regional, and after my Omaha Mavericks won their first ever NCAA tournament game, I bellied up at The Linebacker, and drank the night away. After being kicked out for some reason (the night is a bit fuzzy to me) I requested an Uber, and with my ability to talk interrupted for some reason, I mustered my hotel key card cover to the driver's seat and kind of told him that's where I needed to go. Next thing I remember was waking up in my hotel room in Mishawaka. So long story long, the Uber drivers are kickass, and yes, will take you outside the town.

Sorry for rambling, I quite enjoy telling that story

The food at Legends sucks. Go to the Linebacker Lounge if you want to drink at a bar. Beers way cheaper.

Actually the reason why I was asking about Legends is we were thinking about parking early at the golf course, then going to walk around campus and eat lunch before going back to tailgate. But it doesn't seem like there's really any other place to eat? As far as a real restaurant. I'm fine with tailgate food and everything, was just hoping to find a place to sit down and eat. Thanks for all of the info guys.

There are places across the street (not sure what it's called) but it looks like a little shopping area. We always find people on golf carts that cart people all over. They will take you to there and back if you need. We drop them like $5-$10 a lift and share info right away. Works out pretty nicely and hasn't failed us yet.

Eddy Street Commons

They have Chipotle, Five Guys, Brothers Bar and Grill, Bar Bici (Italian version of Chipotle), and the newest place is Blaze Pizza (pizza version of Chipotle)

Most people sit on the quads and eat cookout food. The dorms all have grills set up that sell hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Proceeds go to each dorm's preferred charity. In terms of "real" restaurants, Legends is where you'd go if you want to sit down with a waiter and order off a menu. Reckers sells brick oven pizzas, sandwiches, and smoothies, but it's an order-at-the-counter kind of place. They have real tables and chairs. There are a number of walkable off-campus locations, but I wouldn't particularly recommend any of them. Between the Buns and the restaurants in Eddy Street Commons would all be walkable. Eddy Street also has a second bookstore if you want to get some gear and avoid the main one on campus.

I'd personally recommend against doing your own thing in the golf course lot. You'll have much more fun and get a way better gameday experience by abandoning your own car and tailgating with the crowds in the stadium lot.

The food at Legends sucks.
Lolwut? Are you talking about their shitty trivia night menu? Because their "real" menu is excellent.

People coming to campus would be well advised to at least throw some cold-weather clothes in their bag, so they can judge what to wear on gameday. The last couple days it has been overcast and cool (it's currently 58 degrees at 10am in August!) and it might be sweatshirt weather for some folks. Hopefully gameday will be warm, but it is also an evening game, and this is SB, so...

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Join your local alumni club. I got four together for face plus a small donation to our scholarship fund.
That all depends on the strength of your club. Most clubs get garbage tickets, the ones that aren't that hard for anyone to get in the first place.

I live in West Michigan. I'll have to see if we even have a club.

I plan on doing the scalping gig with the wife when we get there. My only concern is it won't work out and we have to end up at an overcrowded Linebacker or Legends.

ok so i found some tickets here locally, in dallas....question though...how do I spot fake tickets? I have heard and read ALOT about the tickets to this game being counterfeited alot more than usual....what should I be looking for when I meet this guy? I seen someone said his tickets were actually like plastic...is that normal?
