It's time to stop this lose by four, lose by four, lose by four. I'm hoping Irish can take advantage of Michigan's almost all new defensive line. Only one returning starter in that line.

while its way to early to tell just with the way the last three years have gone I dont think we win this one. We had a better team than them the last 3 years and we couldnt do it now this team has question marks and uncertainties everywhere and I dont think we win it. But who knows sorry for the typical rudy answer but this is one of 3 games I think we cannot win

We have a better team than last year. Really the only spots with question marks are QB1 and DB. Our WR core is going to be good enough, OL/DL/LB/S/RB are all stout. I really think we take this one by 10.

I hope youre right. Ill admit im not all up on whats going on at UM but Id think after winning the sugar bowl theyre not going to be a sloutch this year, they rerun denard who has been a thorn in our side, gahh I just dunno the last three years havent given me a good feeling.

Yeah, pretty sure they lost their whole DL, maybe have 1 returning starter and they lost their WR1. It's going to be a different team without Hemmingway jumping up bring down Denard's duck balls.

You're giving Michigan wayyyyy too much credit for what happened in 2011.

No question. Michigan was the luckiest team in college football last year. Their schedule was so freakin' easy. They only had 2 or 3 challenging games, and only 1 of those was on the road, which they lost by the way to Michigan State. They beat an emotionally deflated and often self-destructive Notre Dame team and slapped around a annually overrated Nebraska team, and lost to mediocre Iowa.

Not only that, but Michigan drew possibly the EASIEST Bowl matchup in the history of the BCS. Virginia Tech clearly did not belong in the BCS. I mean, how can they put a team that lost to Clemson by 28 in their conference championship game? The ACC in all didn't belong in the BCS. Seriously, Notre Dame was in the Champs Sports Bowl and they drew a tougher matchup than Michigan.

The Skunkbears have to replace nearly their entire defensive line, a good portion of their offensive line and pretty much all of their WR's. Not to mention that their schedule is several times harder this time around. Hoke will have a rougher going this year.

I may be in the minority here, but I'm not worried about Bennett Jackson. I could easily see him being an upgrade over Gary Gray. So it's hopefully just FCB and QB1.

You do? Really? I'm not flaming here, I just don't see a better Notre Dame team on paper, and I think you have gone full homer with that post.

Who is going to be your QB? Your defensive backfield is a complete nightmare. How many scholarship CB's do you have? 3 or 4?

The most talented DL on your team was Aaron Lynch and he is now gone and transferred. Lynch would have been a monster, double digit sack maker for the ND defense, that was a huge blow.

Who is going to play QB? It's like a musical chairs thing going on there. Is it Tommy Rees? Gholsten? Hendrix?

No more Michael Floyd, who really was the engine that drove that offense, a 1st round pick that had over 100 receptions last year and a guy that defenses had to double team at WR. No more guy that demands a double team, which makes life a lot harder on the QB and the rest of the offense in general for ND. No more Jonas Gray, the leading touchdown maker for that offense last year. No more Harrison Smith either, and to be honest he was the only Notre Dame defensive back in 2011 that I thought was any good.

GTFOOH with that ****-poor analysis. I'll take this step by step.

Who is going to be your QB?

It's a big question mark but if it's any one of the four, he'll be better than in 2011 in terms of turnovers.

You need to keep in mind that Tommy Rees never presented any running threat for this offense. You haven't seen a real Brian Kelly offense; you've seen a mediocre quarterback with cement boots running the show. I would prepare yourself, mentally, for the future.

Your defensive backfield is a complete nightmare. How many scholarship CB's do you have? 3 or 4?

What's this I see, a Michigan fan talking about nightmarish DB's?

This won't be a "good" defensive backfield, but it won't have to be one either. The safeties will be fine and Bennett Jackson is tough, long, and faaaast. They'll have to play loose, but with the strength of the front seven (it's on an SEC level), they won't need to be world-beaters.

The most talented DL on your team was Aaron Lynch and he is now gone and transferred. Lynch would have been a monster, double digit sack maker for the ND defense, that was a huge blow.

I doubt he'd have gotten 10< sacks. Lynch was a pass-rushing monster, no doubt about it. But he is a prototype 4-3 WE. Stephon Tuitt is a prototype 3-4 SE and is much more valuable to this defense. Even with the loss of Lynch, the DL still returns three starters, and will still be a top ten unit nationally.

This point, more than any other, shows how good of a head coach Brian Kelly is. Even even you lose a phenomenal pass rusher like Lynch, Kelly still brought in sooo many uber-talented guys so that his return to Florida HONESTLY won't be a huge loss. It's nothing short of amazing.

Who is going to play QB? It's like a musical chairs thing going on there. Is it Tommy Rees? Gholsten? Hendrix?

Musical chairs? wtf. Do you say this every time there's a quarterback battle?

It will be Golson. I'd put money on it.

No more Harrison Smith either, and to be honest he was the Notre Dame defensive back in 2011 that I thought was any good.

True, with Michael Floyd. He was a dominant player. That will change the offense.

But the OL, while still very good in 2011, will be even better in 2012. In 2011 teams had to roll a safety over Floyd and the offense worked off of that; in 2012 defenses will have to stack the box and the running game will take the pressure off of the QB.

Notre Dame has a very impressive backfield and a very impressive OL to run with it. When you add in freak-of-nature "Hercules" on the edge, the running back will be able to do a lot of things. You lose Jonas Gray, but you add Amir Carlisle, Theo Riddick, and George Atkinson. I would take that trade any day of the week.

That's not to say that this offense won't have challenges. Of course it will. But the DL/LB/OL/RB/TE/QB will all be better in 2012. The only groups taking a step backward in 2012 are WR and DB. The overall level of talent on this team is rising like a tide.

Sorry man, that's just my honest opinion. Feel free to educate me though if you like.

The DB's are going to be pretty **** poor and it's a complete musical chairs there at QB.

Gray was the leading touchdown maker on offense with 13, and Mike Floyd was the guy you had to stop in that offense.

Lynch was also pretty easily the most talented DL on the ND roster. The kid is a future 1st round pick and he had 6.5 sacks as a true freshman and was a 1st team Freshman All-American on The Sporting News and College Football News lists. Losing him was a huge blow, and he would've probably been a lock to get double digit sacks as a sophomore.

Michigan sucks.

If Michigan sucks, then Notre Dame blows, because Notre Dame hasn't been able to hang with Michigan for most of the 2000's.

Three in a row, and I won't bring up a pair of 38-0 blankings in 2003 and 2007, or the Massacre in 2006 when Manningham scored 3 TD's in the 1st half en-route to a 47-21 beat down in South Bend.

If you can't even spell our QB's name right, then nobody here gives a sh!t what your opinion is. This is a Notre Dame site... Period. So you need to start coming correct on here or you can simply GTFO.

Right. That makes perfect sense. Because ND was smoked by scUM a few times under a different regime, obviously they'll still suck. Also, because scUM has won three in a row by the thinnest of margins, they are much better. Because it's obvious that it's impossible for ND to get better, only other teams can do so.

Because you're a scUM fan, I feel I should let you know I was being sarcastic. I know how you Walmart wolverines are. Also, for the record I have plenty of friends who went to Michigan and they're much more reasonable than this tool. People that actually went to Michigan know how ridiculously lucky they were last year.

6-4 since 2000. The current streak of three games could have gone either way and took last minute touchdowns to win.

What makes a fan want to come on an opposing teams message board and talk trash? Your comments would be more appropriate in a um forum.

I hate Michigan and all of their fans. They always show their true colors eventually. It's why I WILL NEVER be cordial with any Michigan or ohio St. fans, that troll Notre Dame sites. F*** every single one of you.

Yeah, see, you're on the wrong site Walmart. You want to talk sh!t about ND, do it on a Bitchagain site or ESPN or something like that. If you want to talk college football in a respectful way, then feel free to join us. I've backed you up on this site before b/c you were respectful, but now you're just being a dIckhead.

It's pretty simple: if you can't take people ripping on UM, then you shouldn't be here, because there are tons of Irish fans here that can't stand UM and are going to rip on you guys, whether you have 3 (lucky) wins in a row or not. If you want to keep posting, I suggest you ignore the UM ****-talking stuff b/c there will be a lot of it on here, and dude, you'll NEVER win an argument here. Ever. (Just like I'll never win an argument on your sites.) I'm a member of a USC pay site, and I get along with guys just fine there (have even tailgated with some of them) - but I know how to ignore the stupid sh!t they say about ND and pipe in when appropriate. I've never had a problem there.

And as far as 'musical chairs' at QB - see, now you just sound stupid. If that is true, then you guys did the same thing last year w/ Denard and his sorry-*** back-up. Last year, Rees started every game after that first half. Hendrix got time late in the year, just like your sorry-*** back-up would be thrown into games at random times.

And your team has a LOT of holes (just as our team does) - to ignore that is foolish. The ONLY thing I'll disagree with on the Irish posts on this thread is that our front 7 is SEC-caliber. It's not. Not when you have a very weak inside LB aside Manti, an inconsistent and unproven (5 star) sophomore at one outside spot, and 2 unproven guys battling it out for the other outside spot. But everything else written has been spot on.

Anyway Walmart, do yourself a favor a stop posting in this thread now, so you don't get banned. I personally enjoy hearing from other teams' fans, and have backed up guys like you much to the chagrin of many members here, but you've lost that respect with your work here...

Don't really care if I've "lost respect"...it's an internet message board. Seriously, you people take this stuff way too seriously.

I was just posting my honest opinions about Notre Dame in 2012, and then people have to act like little girls. It's cool, I see how it is here.

And for the record, we did not do the same thing with Denard/Devin last year. Devin got on the field at the same time as Denard for a few trick plays, and when he played for long stretches in games- like the Northwestern and Illinois games for instance, it was ONLY because Robinson got banged up during the course of the game. Michigan knows exactly who the starting QB is in 2012....Denard Robinson. Do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt who will be the starting QB for ND in 2012? Didn't think so.

Notre Dame should be a decent team, but please let's quit acting like they will be world beaters and light years better than 2011. That defense isn't anything to write home about and they lost the most talented player in their front 7 in Aaron Lynch, and the defensive backfield just might be the worst in all of college football.

Sorry, where did I claim Michigan was some awesome team in 2012 that will steam roll Notre Dame.

All I see are Notre Dame fans claiming how you guys will be so much better than last year and crush Michigan. Newslfash: Fat Chance, on both counts.

Michigan should definitely be a better team than they were in 2011, but the record won't show out as well and they will probably drop 1 to 2 more games due to the schedule getting a lot tougher having to face Nebraska on the road and what should be a much improved Ohio State team on the road, and then having to face what might be the best team in the country in Alabama in Dallas.
