The good news is that if Kelly is calling from a playbook with fewer passes, we should see more runs and make use of our most potent weapons: OL and RB. I know the OL had a tough time helping us pick 4th and short situations but I have faith we get that fixed for this game. Rarely do we see Hiestand's line play poorly twice (and that's not entirely fair given we still rushed for over 250 yards, I believe).

Up to this point we've averaged 43 rush attempts/game and 5.43 yards per rush. That's a pretty damn good average. Things may change with Zaire out but I'm certain they have enough to use to continue that trend.

Kizer will still have to keep the D honest.... a completed pass or two will help stabilize the linebackers...... give prosise or whomever is running the ball an extra second or two to make a cut decision

Relying on Joe Schmidt to help stop the dive scares me to death. This isn't a scheme thing where you need your "smart player" on the field. Put your big, physical MLB in there to blow shit up.

Hearing BK compare Morgan and Schmidt in the presser pissed me off. Morgan did a hell of a job last year coming in as a true frosh after all of those injuries and continued to get better and better. I really enjoyed watching him develop. The dude earned freshman AA honors for his play. Get him on the field. The love fest BK creates with a certain player every year drives me nuts. Last year, Cam McDaniel. This year, Joe Schmidt.

First, the defense : On Rochell moving inside. Moving Isaac inside means you would have a big strong (one of the skrongest in the country) mobile defensive lineman potentially able to knock an offensive lineman into the fullback gap, first on the option list. What else would that do? Move Sheldon Day outside as the guy you are optioning off! Can you imagine? I do not believe that GeoTech has played against such a strong, mobile and un-block-able defensive lineman in a long time, if ever.

Also, if you watch GT attempt to pass on offense, it ain't pretty. Too many tells, even Tulane was able to stuff their passing game. If we don't eat them alive if they attempt to pass, screw it all!

So the moral is, get up big fast, and then just feast!

Then the offense : on everything. I am not convinced that this defense is any different than having a team of me out there. Like my coach used to say, "He's small, but he's slow!" I have seen little out of those cornerbacks. And I haven't seen much as far as perimeter play, like against teams with speed that spread the field. It is one thing to say that the GT front is dominating Geo Southern, or Tulane. It is another thing to expect that against Fuller, Brown, Hunter, Prosise, etc. Actually we have offensive linemen that may be faster than GT's 2015 opponent's skilled offensive players! (McGlinchey.) Better athletes, too!

Kelly gave you the game. The Irish reserve the right to throw long to the wide side receiver on any play. Now what are you going to do? I am telling you GT is smaller on defense than either Texas and Va., and they couldn't do it. Against GT, we just need to do it more.

Oh, yeah, and don't worry much about jitters with Kizer.

GT will be tough due to the Trip, but the Irish defense is tough too. Need to sure up the secondary and the Irish should be good to go.

Yes, but to play devil's advocate. Playing against a triple option attack requires your defense, especially linebackers and DL to be very aware of their reads and to react off those reads quickly. While putting Morgan in there might mean more physicality, it could also lead to missed assignments, whereas having Joe in the middle means he will make the correct reads more often than not, and therefore attack the ball faster.

I don't know. I just can't believe Morgan isn't smart enough to make the reads. He has played enough now. It's football for God's sake. I think we make this to be way more than it needs to be. I hope we don't have to revisit that post after the game and Schmidt plays lights out, but I've seen enough in two games that doesn't give me great confidence.

I don't see the value of Luatua/Jones two TE sets, what is the difference between that and going wide with another WR if Jones is a liability blocking? If you are saying get big and pound then put our backup tackle(s) in. Biven or Bars out there gets me more excited than Luatua and Jones. Pure dreaming b/c I don't think this is in any of our coaches' DNA.

- We can run out of a zone read more easily with Luatua/Jones on the field. Or call out of it at the line if they put a LB on Jones.

- We can eliminate GT's ability to put an 8-man front on the field.

- It puts a H-Back on the field...

I could go on, but that's enough for me.

It puts Jones' assignment in our backfield 50% of the time. That is enough for me.

MLB reads on the triple option involve determining what direction the FB is going to run, and meeting him in the hole. It is an easy read. We do not need a rocket scientist to do this. We need a monster who is going to punish the FB play after play.

Haha, I mean this whole thing is just so hopeless that it almost makes me expect a big win... that seems to be a trend with BK (at least in regards to my expectations), just when it seems time to fold the hand, ND drops a winning hand out of nowhere.

Like the 2012 Oklahoma beatdown. Nobody outside IE (and a big chunk of IE posters) thought we were going to win that game, and we lowered the boom. I could easily see this game going the same way.

Translation - we have looked at the tape and offensively we are salivating.

The film room for our defense is a different story.

Stop the damn fullback and our athletes will take care of the rest. I know that I have posted this a few times already...i'll see myself out.
