Along the lines of that great quote by Sampson, I don't think IM has or will process the consequences of is recent actions. That will probably come later. I expect him to love his VT visit.

you get the feeling if any decent D1 school offered him this week he would have visited

He does have two more OVs visit if he decides to use them.

Recently, Wisconsin (Jan.21) and South Carolina (Jan.28) offered him, so he could take a few visits past NSD.

However, if his visit goes well enough at VT, it's easy to believe that he will commit before leaving.

Yep, and BK/Alford will have to tell him that that ship has sailed. If Loy's info was good about the contingency plan committed elsewhere, I imagine Alford's calling him as we speak, now that IM is on a plane to VT.

Who is the contingency plan???

I have to imagine this contingency WR plan has to have more information very soon though, NSD is less than a week away. Didn't they want to get him on campus this weekend in place of IM as well?

Yep. I'm starting to wonder if the player was Erik Brown and Loy's source simply had outdated info. There was a time that Brown would have flipped to us whenever he got the green light, but recent reports say that he is going to Cal and that's it.

With the way things have gone, it's only a matter of time until he calls BK/Alford to say he didn't like VT as much as ND, and that he wants back in.

The way this has went, you know there is a distinct possibility of that happening! lol

And I could see if committing to VT, then flipping to Wisconsin or SoCaro.

I held out hope he would get on that plane but now that it is all but over I don't understand why most posters are condemning his decision. We are all obviously biased and think ND is the best decision for most kids. It is very likely he grew up a VT fan and if your favorite team offers you it is probably at least good enough for them to get a visit, right? The timing sucks but that’s just how the ball bounced. This whole thing was like watching a soap opera, but I wish the best to IM and if he comes back to us I hope we would re-open that door.

Most aren't condemning the decision. People are just frustrated that no one but ND was interested in him until he got his grades together. It was ND who outlined a program and gave him direction on how to achieve that goal. No other school was taking those steps that we know of. It's the proverbial "Biting the hand that feeds you", "Immediate gratification", "Not seeing the big picture".

I see all of that and it bothers the hell out of me too, but I remember being that age. I don't think he ever really loved ND as much as he led on. We were just the first big program to show interest. Then he used us to get what he really wanted.

It's crazy to me how on other boards people are trying to blame ND admissions for this. Insane. But a buddy of mine who went to ND and later worked in the admissions dept at the University of Chicago (working closely with Michele Obama of all people) said it much better than I could have:

"I love that admissions has become the scape goat here. Even with this kids shitty grades and super low test score they were willing to meet with the kid, interview him and assess whether there was an academic spark there. How dare they want to actually meet the kid so that they could decide if this kid was serious about making it through ND or if he had no clue what would be expected of him in the classroom. How is anyone walking away from this blaming us? Even though every statistical measure told us not to take him we were still willing to get to know the individual to assess if he could in any way, shape, or form be able to handle the workload.

Sorry, I hope the kid makes it and is successful but ND admission has every right to ask for a meeting to see if, regardless of a putrid academic record, does someone have the chops to succeed. If you pass on that meeting because you Are a big shot and have other offers then best of luck to you. I wish you no ill but I am not bowing down to the altar of some kid who hasn't even learned to wipe his behind while failing classes that just a C- would open up new doors. I wish IM would have taken the meeting but he didn't. Such is life. Still, that doesn't mean ND admissions is to blame."

Nice to see other ND fans tell this Chris Amos idiot to leave McKenzie alone on twitter. Plain and simple, LEAVE KIDS ALONE ON SOCIAL MEDIA!

Making your twitter private really isn't that hard.

This is true but at the same time there are probably a lot of people from his town that want to keep up with his recruiting and it would be difficult to give all of them his private twitter info. It's common sense really. Adults (and even kids/college kids) shouldn't be tweeting negative crap to high school recruits.

So he went on his OV to his DREAM SCHOOL but just said on Twitter that he didn't commit and that he is stuck in Virginia for the next 3 days with $1 in his pocket and a Gatorade ?
