I don't think we're a playoff team. I think next year if everyone comes back (we can literally return our entire starting offense save Koyack if you don't count Lombard as a starter and our entire defense save Riggs) we're absolutely a playoff caliber team with a MUCH easier schedule.

This year we have to go 11-1. We have 6 games left that we can conceivably lose without it being a huge upset... UNC, Louisville, ASU, USC, Stanford, FSU. I think UNC kind of sucks right now and if they don't improve we should handle them rather easily, but last year they got much better down the stretch. Right now Louisville doesn't look amazing but they look really well rounded and we could definitely lose that game. ASU is awesome offensively, but I think they're soft and overrated. USC is laughably overrated they looked like shit against Stanford BUT they're only going to get better as the year goes on. Stanford does not look like a winnable game right now, because they are set up to exploit our weaknesses. And then you have FSU, where I strangely think we have a decent chance of stealing that game.

I'd pick us for 9 wins right now. I think 11 is possible if we get past Stanford (don't think that will happen though) without injuries, but Stanford usually beats you up. If we continue to stay healthy through FSU/ASU/Louisville/USC then I think we win at least two of those games setting up entrance into one of the four "BCS" games where we hopefully play BYU or a B1G team and not fucking A&M/Bama/Georgia/Auburn.

I agree that SC could get better but with their lack of depth, injuries could really hurt them

It's hard to argue with that. I agree that it's easy to get over-inflated views of ND right now. All of the teams listed could beat us and that doesn't even count Navy as a potential upset.

We better be dialed in and injury free if we expect 0-1 losses. I'm still going to keep belief because we still haven't seen a turnover (although Golson threw a perfect pick to Rice). If we can continue protecting the ball and continue our defensive success, anything is possible with this team and that has me as excited as I've ever been about an ND team.

I don't expect to win every game but I do expect us to have a chance to win every game. We shouldn't be largely outmatched against any of the teams on our schedule.

Agree with most of this. I think we are a 10 win team though, beating Stanford, losing to FSU, and either USC or ASU. I'd be happy with 9 so long as we were competitive in the 3 losses. If we are 10-2, and competitive in the two, good chance we are in the conversation for a major bowl, which I'd say is an acceptable/realistic stretch goal for this season.

If we get DD, KVR, and Ishaq back in the next 2 weeks, we will might win 11 games IMO.

Added DL depth and great pass rush combined with another shut down corner? Yes please.

And with DD, Golson would finally have his #1.

I honestly don't think we will see a difference in d-line play if Ishaq is back or not

He's bigger and stronger than any DE we have right now IMO. Plus he'll have ~ 8 games to get himself into the NFL, that's a lot of motivation.

It seems like you predict that our future opponents will improve as the season goes on, yet Notre Dame is somehow as good as we're going to get. If North Carolina and USC are "going to get better as the year goes on," why wouldn't the same be true for us? We have the same caliber athletes, superior coaching, and superior depth.

If Ishaq comes back alone, I think the added depth alone raises the level of play. I also think he will flourish more in BVG's system, but that's just a gut feel (supported by the appearance other guys are). Bring back KVR too, and the impact to DL play is multiplied as KVR will allow us to do more. This may make Ishaq look better than he is, but regardless, I think he will at minimum appear to be better.

Good call. Be nice to have two of them, though. We're going to need everything we have against Stanford and FSU.

That's what I am thinking. Having the three starters back for the Stanford, FSU, and USC games would really make things interesting. I'm not saying we can't do it without them because I am a believer in what is happening right now, but with them we have some amazing depth going into those games. I hope we get them back too bro. Either way, as long as Golson is spinning it like has been, we are in every game this year!

I'll say we have no chance against FSU without them back. Their corners are elite, and Brown and Robinson will not be able to get open.

And they have athletes all over on offense, so we need another lockdown corner and rush DE IMO.

Good point. I think USC will be beat up at the end of the year, and very thin. I think NC is garbage right now, will improve a little, but still expect ND to handle them at home and win by two scores. ASU scares me more than any other game besides FSU.

Sure it would help a lot but don't count them out before the game has even started. Hopefully this is all moot and they are back for the game, but I need a little less quit from you good sir lol.

I have the fever. After last weekend, I had zero intention (or funds) to go to any more ND games this year.

But this one's only a 2.5 hour trip. If anyone has 1-2 tickets and canoot go, let me know please.

Also, never scalped before. What are my chances/prices if I scalp and wait about 5 mins after kickoff? If anyone's going from the Columbus area, I would carpool.
