Lol we played backups for 20 minutes after getting up 39-3... held them to 99 yard through 3 quarters and had 500+ ourselves... that's not style points?

It's both. They played better but let's not carried away. That was a bad offense relative to top 25 teams, where we should be measuring ourselves. But, hey, I'll take it. I thought Coney, Studstill, and some of the positional changes helped. Those guys looked good to me.

Nevada is not Texas by any stretch. BUT some of the fundamental things got cleaned up. We still don't have a lot of push on defense but we did get a few hurries that caused a bad QB to make bad decisions. Tackling was much better and covering was a little improved. I thought Luke played great, as did Coney.

Not saying to use Wimbush and burn a RS but was citing a hypothetical situation. I would like to see DK survive the whole season and would love to see MZ in mop up duty which means we are safely ahead (not something we experience as much s we should under BK). Just saying that from the Virginia game, the TExas snip its and today I don't think MZ can run this offense well enough to keep us in the horse races our BVG D will put us in. I was hoping that MZ would make some plays but short of the Favre pitch (which he had an open field waiting for him) I didn't see anything very encouraging. Under my scenario from my ignorant POV I would imagine that Wimbush would lose his RS when he would become the number two QB if DK went down. Not sure if I'm making sense or not. This D under BVG scares the S out of me.

But, saying all that our defense isn't good at all And today is not a judge IMO it was Nevada. We will see the truth when we play good teams. So far we are 0-1 against a good tame and got our defensive ass handed to us. and 1-0 drubbing to a team we should have. That is a good thing. But, thinking our defense is fixed, I will reserve judgement until we play a good team.

I don't think anyone is saying the defense is fixed, especially with Crawford out now.

But the defense did improve from last. But, Nevada offense also does stink.
