Oh my..... Settling into BVG system is the problem. This is just nuts....

We'll pitch a shut-out next week and he'll take that as proof it was anomaly.

So frustrating.

I don't think he was being very critical of Kizer.
That was my issue yesterday after reading his post game comments and conference call the next day. While he may not be directly critical of Kizer, he sure is making it seem like he's your average QB. The dude is legit one of the best QB's in CFB right now. But you'd never know his coach thought he was even serviceable.

That's how BK always is.

Kizer could be 32-32 passing for 475 yards and 6 TD's, and BK would talk about how he was fortunate to not get sacked on a few missed protections, and how he'd like to see him pull it down and run sometimes instead of forcing that 32nd completion into coverage.

Plus, commenting on your college athlete is different than commenting on your defensive coordinator.

I understand we're all frustrated with the defense, but anybody expecting BK to lay it all on the line in praise of Kizer and/or lambast BVG in the public eye is foolish, and hasn't been paying attention to BK since 2010.

Maybe he's trying to keep him humble? Remember when we had the discussion on here that it was said that he comes off as kind of a douche. The last thing BK would want is for Kizer to think he's hot shit and then his ego could really get in the way of team success.

Also, I don't think Kelly has really bragged about his players too much. He'll say that had a good game but he never really labels them as "one of the best in the country".

I'm not looking for a day long praise of Kizer or even a harsh public lashing of BVG. But don't basically label potentially the best QB in the country as just ok while offering public praise and support of your less than average DC. Why even bring up publicly the 1 thing your phenomenal QB missed? Why publicly state your DC is a great coach? There are much different ways to phrase and go about it.
Why is anyone mad about him not praising Kizer a bunch?

BK is a living example of Lou's old mantra of "things are never as good as they seem and they are never as bad as they seem."

Aside from the excellent Gary Gray example (where BK learned his lesson lol), this is how he's always been. That's it. Reading anything more into it is a mistake.

Yep. I went on a little rant about this yesterday, don't remember which thread.

But he always praises BVG and Zaire. But will always find something that Kizer did wrong and mention it to the media

At this point I think Zaire and BVG know some dirty secret on Kelly and are holding him hostage.

He brought it up the things about Kizer because Pete Sampson asked him about it: Petes question was: "Yesterday Kizer brought up some of the things he did wrong. What are some of the things that him and yourself see that we don't?" or something to that effect.
He answered the question: this is really a non issue

I don't want him to praise him a bunch. It seemed like the post game game presser though he didn't say a single good thing about the way he played - he only had constructive criticism.

When I have time I'll go search for it, but I seem to remember after the FSU loss BK made a comment about EG being the best player on the field, or the best QB in that game, or something along that line. Maybe that's why he doesn't say anything good about players publicly. Every time he does they completely fall apart!

My thoughts going into this game:

BK deserves the benefit of the doubt.

BVG does not.

I have no qualms about the offense.

The defense has a lot to prove.
