The North Dakota national guard could bury them in a day. Let's be honest.

Poland is a paper tiger. I deal with Poles. Sad and sorry people
The bigger thing is terrain. Russia has to defend the whole Finnish border and cooperation with Sweden makes the Baltic a NATO lake. The Finns also have a mobilization system similar to Israel and can theoretically call up 900k reserves if they really have to. Both countries have high quality air forces as well.

The ability of a military to function hinges on the ability to communicate, adapt, and use equipment well. Poland has incorporated western equipment really well and surged the size of its military. Whether you think the Poles you interact with are a "sorry people" isn't predictive and frankly hasn't been predictive in prior wars.

While the Finns aren't quite as badass as the Israelis, they're not your average force, either. They don't play. They are not to be taken lightly.

For anyone questioning this, look up the Winter War. Long story short, the Finns killed so many Russians their soldiers got PTSD from seeing how many dead bodies were stacked below them.

Just for clarity’s sake western officials are now saying it wasn’t an ICBM. With nuke payload that would have been the start of full go war.

If it was an ICBM without the warhead, I would bet this is Putin flexing in response without crossing the line.

Yeah it would be kind of weird to us an ICBM on a 300 mile target.
True. Does make you wonder about our missile stocks. Some are very old. I'm sure they are fine. Anyone know how often we fire one off just to make sure things are still working?

ANSWER: My dad is an old misileer. Says tests are done probably once a year or every few years by selecting random missiles from the silos housing our nukes. They remove the warheads, take the missile to California and shoot it at a island near Japan to make sure our fleet is still operational.

Putin giving a national address to his country currently
BREAKING: Putin began an emergency address to the Russian people regarding the use of long-range weapons on Russian territory

First statements:

- The conflict has acquired elements of a global character. Russian military facilities in the Bryansk and Kursk regions were struck by Western missiles. On November 19, 6 ATACMS missiles and on November 21 Storm Shadow missiles struck facilities in Kursk and Bryansk regions.

- Russia struck Yuzhmash with a nuclear-free hypersonic ballistic missile. Ukraine was struck by the newest ballistic hypersonic missile "Oreshnik".

quote:

Russian President Putin says "following long-range strikes from Ukraine, the regional conflict has acquired elements of a global one."

quote:

"The newest Russian missiles attack targets at a speed of 2-3 km per second, and existing enemy missile defense systems cannot intercept them, the president said, Russia will offer Ukrainian civilians in advance to leave the danger zone if missiles are used, Putin said."

quote:

With Western missiles, the conflict in Ukraine has become "global".

quote:

Putin: "It is known that it is impossible to use long-range weapons on Russian territory without specialists from the countries where they were manufactured."

You sure defend russia a lot
I defend not sticking our nose where it doesn't belong.

The Ukraine means more to Russia than it ever will to Americans.

My mom's side came here from the Ukraine. None of them have a strong opinion on it. It's a place on a map very far away. The tribe is called "Germans from Russia."

To me, this seems akin to Russia helping weirdos take over Canada and then getting mad when we roll tanks into Ottowa.

My family is in the same boat. Didn't even realize we've always said our family is from the Ukraine or just Eastern Europe until right now.

FIFY.

It was called that as a misnomer due to Soviet/Russian actions to belittle the people there. It's all part of the ethnocentrist propaganda pumping out of there now. Leaders of Russia calling Ukrainians a subethnic group (re, not worthy of having a state). Therefore, when you use "the" Ukraine, you are diminishing who they are, and what they have. I know plenty that are Ukrainians that will fight you tooth and nail about using that article "the."

I find the hard on for WW3 weird. I guess if you will fight over words like "the Ukraine" you will be all for sending my kids to get nuked in Eastern Europe. Grow up or deport please.

De-escalate and engage in a decades long economic "war". Get serious about controlling our essential defense tech supply chain domestically and becoming a net exporting energy juggernaut. Putin quiets down quick when price of oil goes to shit.
