What the fuck is going on. I'm in the Rumored Violations thread. Yet every other post is about the Rice situation that I just read in the NFL thread.

This thread refuses to be "labeled" just a violation thread . It branches out on occasion and mingles with other topics.

Most threads end up that way. For some reason I thought I was reading the NFL thread, then clicked on this one, and they were merged.

Its late

I should just go to bed

He 100% saw the video. It is insulting that they would try to lie about it. On top of everything else, that is unreal to me.

What motivation would Goodell have for seeing the video, levying a light punishment on Rice, then lie about seeing the video?

If he had seen the video, don't you think he would have at least had to consider the fact then that others may have seen/will see the video as well?

I'm not sure one person has ever considered Goodell lenient in his punishment of players during his entire tenure as commissioner. Now, all of a sudden, he decides to go light on a punishment...and lie about a video (that you believe he's allegedly viewed) that he knows exists out in the public somewhere?

Your transparent hatred of Roger Goodell doesn't make any of what you want to be so, so.

Is that a violation? Recruiting another player that is enrolled at another school?

If he didn't see it, he willfully chose not to. I'm not sure which is worse.

Even if he somehow didn't know someone had sent a copy to the NFL, every inch of public space in every casino in America is on video 24/7. They must've known the casino had videotape. And don't give me this BS about it being illegal to ask for a copy. The criminal investigation was long over. And even if it wasn't, the casino could have easily provided a copy. If Goodell wanted to see the thing, he would have before now.

Somewhere in this tangent, there is a delicate thread back to the investigation of academic misconduct by several Notre Dame football players. I can't quite articulate it but have a feeling it runs through Goodell's mantra to "protect the shield" above all else. But in Notre Dame's case, I actually think academic integrity is a shield worth fighting for. I'm not so sure I feel that way about the NFL's brand and public image at this point.

Yes, but we don't know if that's what he's referring to...

Right. But what I was referring to is that if it is North Carolina it's either A. a violation or B. Daniels was told tonight that he was no longer enrolled at the University and North Carolina found out about it down wind from somebody else and contacted him.

Likely? Probably not. But a possibility.

edit: Maybe tomorrow's the day...?

That is what I've been wondering. I think they saw it and decided - for whatever misguided reason - it would be better to suppress the video and thought they could sit on it. I have no idea why they did that. It is unquestionably one of the dumbest, most hilariously-yet-tragically hubristic decisions that I can think of.

But it is pretty obvious that they made that decision. Three of the most reliable NFL errand boys, King, Schefter and Mort, all reported, in so many words, that the NFL had seen the video. In fact, they implied that the video in some way mitigated Rice's culpability and explained the disturbingly light punishment. Mort actually explained what the video ultimately showed.

And even giving Goodell the most favorable possible reading and believing they didn't see it, that is also fireable. I mean, going out of your way to ignore evidence is every bit as bad and every bit as hard to understand or explain as seeing it and pretending you didn't. He's most likely a lying snake motherfucker, and in the event he isn't he is an incompetent imposter of a tough guy.

No doubt I think the man is a terrible person. But that isn't just random. He's earned that. Finally he's done something that exposed what he is - a very dumb, very vain, confident, arrogant impecile - to a broader audience. He's done, and he had it coming.

I really doubt that is UNC, because I have never seen them called NC before. It's probably a group he's worked with or an organization or friends from home or whatever.

If someone from North Carolina did contact him, he wanted to go there and he tweeted it...he's a fucking moron and shouldn't have a team.
