Confirmed.

Come out and support the Fighting Irish as they prepare to take on Michigan under the lights! The pep rally will kickoff with the Leprechaun, Cheerleaders, and Marching Band. Special guests include Coach Lou Holtz and the Golf Channel’s David Feherty.

Make sure you arrive early to hear 2010 Alum Pat McKillen perform hits from his album, the Red Headed Enemy, at 5:00 PM!

David Feherty? That's pretty cool. He is not quite right, I mean in the head. That's in a good way.

Yeah, I kind of like that in a man.

A) Look back, I properly defined the emoticons wayyyyy before anyone else, as soon as DD's tweet was published; how many IE posters does it take to get the facts right?

B) Anyone who seriously doesn't want any of the players back for the UM game for any reason needs to sit down and carefully rethink things.

You feeling it? I'm think about a 25% chance they get cleared today.

My experience with NFL games suggests that the common folk can ussually afford one game. Its the season tickets that aboslutely kill.

I think we'll see a rowdy crowd. It ussually isn't rowdy when (a) the game is small time or (b) we stink.

The night games I've been to - USC in 2011 and to some extent last year - have tended to be fairly rowdy. Not b/c of fewer blue-hairs necessarily, but fewer children and moms distracted by toting children (moms sans children make plenty of noise). Also of course the longer tailgate. It'll be fine.

You don't make any announcement and when they come out of the tunnel with the rest of the team the stadium will erupt. Crowd will be amp'd and scUM will suffer the consequences.

"Oh my gah! Is that... Keivarae Russell's entrance theme?"

Someone needs to bring a #FreeToot sign to the pep rally.

I'm not saying ND would do it this way, but in my opinion you certainly don't need to announce they are back before the game. Some might say after the big press conference a few weeks ago announcing the investigation, you need to say something publicly before the players play. But I'm not so sure. First, as long as ND internally investigated in an appropriate manner, the announcement is meaningless, including from an NCAA standpoint. If anyone wants to perform a quality check after the fact, I'm sure everything will be well documented. Second, what would we glean from an announcement other than the players are back (or not)? Due to privacy issues, they are not going to be able to talk specifically about what any of these guys did or didn't do, so another big press event seems rather meaningless.

25% chance Kelly gets so frustrated with the process he throws in the towel.

I agree with you, Kelly just got to be just about done with it.

For the first time it looked like Coach Kelly was tired and fed up with things at his press conference yesterday. Maybe its just me, but that was the impression I had. Maybe its because of a big week of preparation for Michigan coupled with all the crap going on, but he seemed annoyed. Perhaps I just hang on most every word he says, like when he said during practice to "run it again" referring to a bad rep. I hope I am reading too much into it. To me he didn't seem himself.

Kelly should just go rogue and play them anyways.

I was going to post this very same thought a couple days ago......its not like the ncaa is going to come down on him for anything, no chance of any games being vacated.

If the administration wants to throw down, then lets rock and roll!

this ordeal has really soured me towards the administration at ND, at least the portions of the administration that are trying to prove this point.

hearing Holtz going to be there can we confirm?

At this point, no sane person would have any hope whatsoever that any of the five players will be eligible to play tomorrow. The "atmospherics" of such a move would have the national media comparing ND's academic integrity to the Tallahassee PD's rape investigation of Jameis Winston. The suits at ND (black and otherwise) will not allow that to happen. Hope I'm wrong about this but it's not likely.

I bet this is just another one of Michigan's conspiracies to mess with ND. Looks like a Big Ten suckhole out there to me...

This got me thinking. Let the team come out of the tunnel, then wait about 30 seconds, play the music and the "reprieved" come out to Austin's theme! That might shake the stadium to the core.

Completely untrue on every level. I cannot believe that people actually think that's how it would play publicly... it's not. Not even close.

You could hold a PC after the game explaining the decision. That might work better than prior to the game which might cause too much of a distraction.

how about the theme music plays, and SCSA leads the team out of the tunnel with that swagger-walk, wearing the leather vest...then when under the goal post he cracks open 2 beers, guzzles them, and then gives the double-bird as the team is taking the field

Screw Stone Cold. We need 'Taker up in ND stadium.

EDIT: Now that I'm actually thinking about it, that entrance would be grade-A badass. They could ring the opening chimes from the basilica bells.

You don't think so? Most non-ND fans that I know don't even remember that we have players suspended, because the "World Wide Leader" hasn't reminded them.

But if they are reinstated, and the "Notre Dame reinstates 3 starters on eve of Michigan Finale" headline hits the front page of ESPN.com, I'm guess the comments section will be, well, less than flattering.

Hmmmmm....

Sorry that wasn't news... Just getting around to watching yesterday's presser.

EDIT: I've come around to the "majority" point of view on this one. I would have been really upset if ND modified or accelerated the process to make a special case for football players, but this isn't how the process works. The fact that they hadn't even had their first hearings as of last night is really bizarre and I can't make heads or tails of it.
