I just think that we are naïve to think that these guys (if possibly have a chance to play) aren't being brought up to speed on game plans and such. I understand its a new scheme, and new wrinkles are put in every week and you could bet all the v bucks possible that the staff is keeping these guys updated to cover their basis. Again assuming that these guys may possibly play!

Agree, they're not totally out of the loop. I'll bet they have also been working on their conditioning.

Right, and y'all can forgive my ignorance, but how hard is it to know the playbook as an outside receiver? You don't have a lot to remember.

Just remember it could be worse. We could have a player be suspended for premarital sex.
I hate to be that guy, but...

The University embraces the Catholic Church’s teaching that a genuine and complete expression of love through sex requires a commitment to a total living and sharing together of two persons in marriage. Consequently, students who engage in sexual union outside of marriage may be subject to referral to the University Conduct Process.

There is WAY more to it than that. Basically all offenses now have site adjustments that the WR must know based on coverages.

It would be easy for DD if he gets 'reintated' before the game. He'll most likely draw Peppers on almost every play. So, get off the line good, and run Al as far as fast as you can. You can throw in some double moves or a few other routes. But, get Peppers as far from the other WRs as possible. No need to know or do anything more.

But would ND ever kick a football player out for premarital sex? I have never seen a single story of a player being suspended for premarital sex and lets be honest most of the players are having it. All of the religious schools have it on the books (Baylor does as well) but do you ever hear about it being used?

Edit: Though I could be wrong, though I have never seen a story about it.

Amazingly pathetic IMO that they can't come to a conclusion yet, considering all of the info was placed on their lap last Thursday.

It's like they have no precedent on how to punish cheating. I mean, you have the investigation report, you have the involved members on campus, what the fuck more do you need.

Come on man. It's way harder than that at any level above JV. Especially as a #1 WR - he needs to be on the same page as Golson. If Golson looks over and sees the way the CB is leaning, he might not even say anything and assume the WR knows what to hot route to. Now I'm not saying DD can't do it in a few days - even though people bag on him constantly here, he's a very skilled receiver.

I know for a fact they aren't overly strict about this. We've had numerous players with kids, and one of the freshmen that started with me in my dorm had a kid right at the end of our first year.

Well, they did do that in 2002, but the situation was complicated.

Four players were accused of rape. The players claimed it was consensual; she claimed it was a brutal gang rape. IIRC, all 4 players were kicked out of school very quickly, well before the criminal process had played out (one was later convicted of sexual battery or some lesser crime, another was acquitted of rape, and the charges against the other two were then dropped). The players admitted that they had participated in a sexual encounter that was at least a consensual gangbang, so they were dismissed for their sexual misconduct. One was just days away from graduating.

But that's the only example I can think of and it is obviously an extreme case. As ResLifeHero says, it's not like ND is snooping around trying to catch fornicators. I also knew people who had kids while students at ND; no disciplinary ramifications.

The point was brought up to compare ND to BYU... I think... and yeah, when it comes to sexual relations out of wed lock ND is definitely not BYU.

Uhhhh....this is a joke, right?? If you think that's what you think the receivers have to know, you must not of played past Pee Wee's or Pop Warner depending on your location.

Well... that's a little different isn't it? We can't be known as Gangbang U.

Holy shit guys, obviously it's not as simple as a pass tree but my point was that WR is much more about being an athlete than it is about out thinking your opponent compared to other positions on the field.

I would like to say that I am done with this, but I am not done with this. That it has taken this long pisses me off. As a professor, I would be pissed that resolution took this long. That Jack isn't doing more to expedite this process really pisses me off. That these guys are being held in limbo, from an academic and athletic standpoint, would really piss me off if I was their parent. I love the standards that hold at ND, but keeping kids in limbo like this is inexcusable. Make a decision so they can either resume their lives or transfer to complete their education.

I give up.

Me too.

There is absolutely no question in my mind that, with the "investigation" concluded last Thursday, if the University wanted to, they could have had decisions on all the players made by yesterday, at the latest - if not last Friday.

They just chose not to rush the hearing process, and I firmly believe part of the reason is that they did not necessarily want a resolution done in time for the Michigan game.

I am sure many will disagree with me, but I really think this could have all been completed by now, if the powers to me wanted it to be.

To be clear, I am not saying players cleared, just the process completed.

To me, this is SO unfair to the players involved, guilty or not guilty. If they are guilty, then give them a legitimate opportunity to transfer to another university for THIS semester, if they want to.

If they are not guilty, give them an opportunity to play in the last game vs Michigan.

Have the hearing committee "on call" for last Friday, or even over the weekend, in other words.

That DD still has not received notice of his hearing tells me that nothing should come this week. I assume that he would be present for an appeal, no? That no letter has come means no resolution this week.
