It's like they slap you... then they kick you.

Got to be frustrating for Irish fans sometimes. Geez.

And I'm being very serious when I say that the #1 thing that was rock solid throughout this from very, very good sources was that there were no other current players involved. Which means they were still actively witch hunting, and they were still finding stuff.

Seeing as how all of the other 4 are upperclassmen, I suspect the fifth unnamed player will be one too.

Another experienced player lost on a relatively inexperienced team.

But hey, don't sweat the small stuff…. Right?… RIGHT?!?!?!?!

Fuck off.

And any school in the country could witch hunt emails and find stuff... THIS is the type of stuff that DOES go on everywhere...

At what point do rich alumni football fans say "Enough!" and start keeping their wallets closed?!

Screw this administration. We have a hell of a coach in BK and he is leaving after this year. Good luck finding someone that wants to deal with this crap.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting this, but it sounds like the investigation is now over, and Kelly will be addressing the media in about 15m about it. If so, we'll have some closure here soon.

This is actually shocking. And some serious, real news.

And honestly... this means that we're still digging DEEP through emails/files and have gone so absurdly far past the initial jumping off point for this investigation that I just do not understand the point.

There is being thorough... which means fully investigating what's in front of you. And then there's "hey, you know what'd be fun? Let's get a team of people to look through every email/file anyone has sent through the University system in the past 5 years."

Sadists man... all of them.

As someone who is just a fan of the football team and not an alum, I am fascinated by what is motivating this. It seems like every institution I've ever known is leery of turning over rocks for fear of what they might find that incriminates the entire organization. And we can debate whether that is ethically right or not, but that kind of realist approach is so standard that it's almost hard to believe that they are doing this to themselves when there is nobody else that would or could do it to them. You'd think the instinct for self preservation would kick in at some point, so it makes me wonder if there is an anti-football faction in the administration that is dragging this thing forward. It is a real interesting dynamic, for sure. Too bad it is coming at the expense of the only thing that really makes me interested in the outcome.

There probably isn't a point. I'd imagine that, for the most part, that they are more loyal to the university and it's integrity than to the football team.

None of us know enough about what information the university has at this point to say that it's a "witch hunt", or anything of that nature.

I just hope that the 5th player isn't someone vital to the offense...or a D lineman.

The release says "As Notre Dame's internal investigation relating to potential NCAA violations reaches its conclusion..."

So, we now are for sure that there are potential NCAA violations, and also it doesn't really say that the investigation is over.

If 5th is held out, and BK's about to release the final statement. That means at the very least Hardy's done.

And doesn't sound good for the other 4 coursemen.

I would hope so, but based on the previous conference, I'd be surprised that it would be Coach speaking instead of the Prez and Captain Jack. Maybe CBK is announcing he's taking another job?

Yeah, it sounds that way, and i guess it's safe to assume that if they are JUST NOW adding someone to the list, and it is reaching closure soon, well, that's prob. not good.

This university introduced me to football, and I am a Captain Insano level fan, but if they got rid of football, I would Notre Dame every bit as much as I do now.

If the investigation is reaching its conclusion, that doesn't mean the final hearings have been done regarding punishment.

At this stage, it probably means some might be exonerated at not face the board at all, while the rest are going to go in front of the board.

So, I don't think it means everyone not exonerated at this point is going to be punished.
