I don't think the 4 players being outed by ND was a big deal. After all, there are what, 125-150 individuals constituting players, coaches, staff, etc. that are around the team on a daily basis. And they have roommates, girlfriends, spouses, parents, media members, and friends that they speak to on a daily basis. It's hard to keep a secret like that among so many people. Then, on top of that, you have practice open to the media and/or faculty and spouses. I think somebody like NDinL.A. is going to pick up on who is absent from practice, particularly if there are already rumors swirling about an investigation or suspensions. And besides, it's not like the school has said they are guilty of anything-- just that they are investigating allegations.
I also don't see, at this point, the big deal in IE acknowledging who the tutor in question is. I can see IE not wanting to out the girl or cause widespread speculation when the story first began. But us not being to acknowledge something that is readily available on the internet makes me feel like we're hanging out in the parlor room, wearing our ascots and smoking jackets, drinking Brandy from our snifters, and holding our noses high in the air while we scoff at the lower class heathens.
