Sorry if this has been brought up earlier in the this thread, but a lot of post to sift through. anyway! how long does a investigation like this last? a few days, a week, month? I know there are lots of variables to determine length. But lets say they take until August 28th, all free and clear, that's a lot of practice time missed.

In UNC's case didnt the "investigation" last 2 years? ( Not that the two situations are remotely similar other than related to academics)

That's why I don't get the suspension from football BEFORE the investigation. Feels like a "guilty until proven innocent" kind of situation. I know it's not the criminal justice system but still.

Jenkins and Swarbrick know we are making a run to the 'ship and dont want to vacate anymore wins.

Maybe i'm way to simple minded.

Davaris did you bang this chick in exchange for a paper?

No.

Chick, did you tell Davaris that if he allowed you to give him a mouth hug you'd write his paper?

well...I mean...he told me he loved me.

wtf?

This case should get tossed immediately. Period.

The core of Jenkins press release was about INTEGRITY not the NCAA. His first concern is the student body.

"Integrity is at the heart of our mission and academic misconduct will not be tolerated at Notre Dame," said Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., the University's president. "If the suspected improprieties are proven, we will use the experience to reinforce among our students the importance of honesty in all that they do. We are also examining ways of better conveying to students that they can avail themselves of legitimate academic assistance without resorting to cheating."

Evidence that papers/assignments for the participants were written by others was detected at the end of the summer session, July 25th.The matter was referred to the Compliance Office on July 29th. The investigation by The Office of General Counsel started July 29th.

Difference is ND initiated their own investigation and then contacted the NCAA. At UNC, it seemed half the institution was involved and it went on for years. It took a whistleblower to come forward. I believe it's an NCAA investigation and not a school investigation.

Didn't Moore graduate so can he just pick up and leave and play elsewhere right away? Do these allegations affect said degree?

It is because of possible NCAA violations. If we know they might have committed a violation and we play them and it turns out they did commit a violation we would have to vacate any wins they played in from when we found out about it. Also they have been looking into it for two weeks before suspending so my take is that when they first heard about it (July 29th) they let them practice till they could determine if it was credible. Once they determined it was credible they suspended them.

Did anybody that went to college not know someone who's girlfriend wrote papers for them? The term "academic fraud" makes this sound so much worse then it is. Dari Knowkah was absolutely ridiculous this morning on Dari and Mel and he's an Oklahoma fan. Talk about the a hypocrite. Joe Mixon is beating the hell out of a women and that is a minor story. This just gives all the ND haters so much glee.

Yes I believe you are correct. I mentioned this yesterday. If I was Moore I would transfer ASAP so I do t lose my last year of eligibility.

The investigation began on July 29th, so it's not a matter of suspension BEFORE the investigation. In fact, Father Jenkins himself clarified that these young men are NOT suspended; they are still on scholarship, they still have access to all of the facilities (including the training table). They are merely being held out of organized team activities (including practice and any games) until their involvement (or non-involvement) is cleared up. As to the length of the investigation: I would assume that each of the four will be treated individually (obviously) and will be individually processed as their involvement is determined. I think it would be reasonable to say that these four individuals will be given priority in the investigation. In that case, I would expect that all four of should see significant playing time this year, if they are cleared.

I doubt that most schools will take a transfer that is being actively investigated for academic fraud.

Edit: Who am I kidding, Bob Stoops would take him in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the positive reps, guys.

Here's the comment for the neg rep:

you're no ND fan if you still say "rape".

I had no idea that "drawn & quartered" meant rape.

I think someone probably got you confused with Irish4life09, who brought up the Shembo incident, for some reason, last night. He got beat up pretty good.

I don't know. I just can't get too worked up about this. These nimrods will pay the price. ND will win some games and lose some games this year and both make me happy and piss me off in the process. Kelly stays, Kelly goes, I'll still watch and support.

Haters will always enjoy Irish misery and often ND gives them plenty of material to work with. Ppl can say and write what they want, but ND on a bad day is still 10x better than the next on their best.

Who cares. I'm ready to watch some football.

Pretty sure that's exactly what happened.

You're good NDfan. Not like you need to hear it from me.

Thanks kmoose.

I must've missed that post.

It looks like I'll have to go neg rep him for that.

Payback's a bitch.

I think people will feel better after reading this. No info, but good perspective.

Scout.com - College and High School Football, Basketball, Recruiting, NFL, and MLB Front Page

This stood out the most for me:

If you didn't know that students and athletes at every university and college in this nation have and will continue to cheat, you should likely stop reading now. It will preserve your enviable albeit dangerous naiveté.

They cheat at Harvard, they cheat at Army, they cheat at North Carolina, they cheat at Tennessee, and they cheat at Notre Dame.

How said cheaters are handled is paramount.

If Notre Dame "were like most" (as an aside, is that oft-uttered phrase the most self-righteous, nauseating espousal on planet earth?), the four suspected might not miss a minute of game action. Amid Friday's day-long circus, the university ultimately set forth on a process of great importance -- discovering the truth behind an academic scandal to ensure football doesn't supersede Notre Dame's core values.

In a nutshell, this is why I love Notre Dame.

"Education before entertainment. Student before athlete. A degree held sacred by alumni for which they can be proud, and hold in common with those that preceded and follow.
In earnest, Notre Dame Friday took its initial steps toward getting its most important issue right.

Geez...

I couldn't have done any better.

You know what, we all may hate that this is happening because we know it hurts the football team, and in the world of college athletics, it is beyond minor, but isn't this exactly why we respect and cheer for Notre Dame as opposed to other universities? We aren't cutting ourselves any slack just because "everyone else does it." We are making sure to stick to the core values of the school. That we are ND, and we do things the right way, no matter the cost.

Also, in UNC's case some in position of authority at the school were part of the issue.

BTW..........Good Morning everyone, Fuck Michigan!
