I had the story that Tommy told, in Goodfellas, running through my mind. "What do you want to tell me now, tough guy? I said, 'Me? What are you doing here? I thought I told you go fuck your mother?"

And to wrap up today's sexual stories:

In real life, the guy Tommy (Joe Pesci) was murdered for trying to rape Henry Hills wife.

100% Correct!! Makes zero sense!!!

Fr. Jenkins scares me on this issue as he is a liberal who will give the farm away.

Remember he invited pro-abortion and anti-Catholic Obama to speak AND get an honorary degree!!

Still hard to believe!!

That you would connect these two things is hard to believe or understand....

I'm not going to address the majority of this because I saw how far the protestors went to ruin graduation for the seniors. but i respect the right to have and express that opinion, but i highly doubt that the president of a university asking the president of the country to speak to the graduating class about their future role in society has anything to do with how he approaches college athletics

Edit: no idea why there's an emoticon in the title of my post, but it was unintentional.

Pardon me if this has been discussed (I'm just now trying to catch up) but can anyone clarify if this could result in ND vacating past wins?

ND would vacate wins if the ongoing investigation determines that a player that participated in a game would have been ineligible at that time if academic misconduct was known.

Fr Jenkins is demonstrating accountability for actions and making this a teaching moment.

Fr Jenkins noted in the press release:

That investigation is ongoing. If it determines that the student-athletes would have been ineligible during past competition, Notre Dame will voluntarily vacate any victories in which they participated.

Jenkins stressed that integrity was at the heart of ND's mission and ND would use this situation to reinforce that message to the students.

ND Press Release (emphasis added)

The University of Notre Dame is investigating suspected academic dishonesty on the part of several students, including four members of the football team. Because of the potential for NCAA violations, the university notified the NCAA today, and the four football players will be held out of practice and competition until the conclusion of an ongoing investigation and the university honor code process. Any possible academic dishonesty by other students will be addressed appropriately.

“Integrity is at the heart of our mission and academic misconduct will not be tolerated at Notre Dame,” said Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., the university’s president. “
If the suspected improprieties are proven, we will use the experience to reinforce among our students the importance of honesty in all that they do. We are also examining ways of better conveying to students that they can avail themselves of legitimate academic assistance without resorting to cheating.”
Evidence that students had submitted papers and homework that had been written for them by others was initially detected at the end of the summer session, and referred to the compliance office in athletics on July 29. The Office of General Counsel initiated an immediate investigation.
That investigation is ongoing. If it determines that the student-athletes would have been ineligible during past competition, Notre Dame will voluntarily vacate any victories in which they participated.
“The university is committed to thorough resolution of this matter, consistent with its commitment to academic integrity and adherence to NCAA rules," Father Jenkins said. Students who are subject to the investigation will remain enrolled until its conclusion.

It's not like it was a point of emphasis. He actually very casually remarked that, if they found out that they had used ineligible players, then they would choose to vacate those wins.

His tone is completely irrelevant. He laid out a clear policy, in a public statement, linking violations discovered after the fact with prior wins. Shifting the record books from 12-0 to 0-12 is not a trivial decision. It may ultimately be the appropriate decision, but it may not be. Constraining yourself in that way means it's on the record, and makes it much more difficult to revise in the future.

Indeed one of his gimmicks used to be that he was a black guy that thought he was a dorky white guy. I think his twitter handle is still proudCaucasian

First off what's a brick thread? Second I have a few close friends who wrestle on the indies. The one in the gif he just recognizes me since I go to a lot of local shows. A few other guys though I consider close friends they've been to house I've been at theirs for wwe/UFC ppvs and for some football and basketball games. Nonetheless I never thought I would see Matt Cage appearing on IE.

The one thing about this that is difficult to understand is why they would come out and be explicit about the possibility of vacating wins at this point. Everything should be contingent on the investigation in order to not constrain themselves down the road. I understand that it's a preemptive move to make sure the NCAA doesn't get involved right away, but I think it's a big mistake.

It sets up a precedent whereby if a violation is discovered after the fact then wins from the past should be vacated. What if Tony Rice reveals in an interview that he cheated on a test - or even worse, someone digs up some old exams and finds blatant evidence of cheating? By the standard set today, it would seem like in principle they would need to go back and vacate those wins. Just an unnecessary and shortsighted move, in my mind.

You didn't read the press release, did you?

“Integrity is at the heart of our mission and academic misconduct will not be tolerated at Notre Dame”

His primary concern is ND's student body not the NCAA.

I did. It is almost always unwise to lay out a sanction for a potential violation before an investigation has taken place. It places constraints on eventual action that may be very difficult to negotiate at a later point. And it is not consistent with a policy of conducting an investigation before considering appropriate responses. Just shortsighted, in my opinion.

So is that good?? I get the feeling I'm receiving a backhanded compliment about having wrestling friends. Or maybe I've just been looking at South Park and my phone for too long today.

But yeah a bunch of the mob guys were making sexy time with Hill's wife and she turned down Tommy and he tried to rape her, so she went to another guy she was makin sex time with... the local boss 'Paul' and he ordered ok'd the whacking of him.

And oh yeah Tommy was a loose cannon because his big brother was a rat and he tried to make up for it.
